Super D ?
Super D ?
Who's considering running in Super D this year?
I haven't had time to look in detail, but I have a car that's restricted by the SCCA Improved Touring rules and is underpowered compared to many other cars in T50. Was wondering if Super D might be a bit more fun....

Re: Super D ?
My midget will be on track this summer. It is super D.
I did not make my final decision yet whether to keep my points together and run the miata in super D or run it in T40.

Re: Super D ?
Hi Jeff ---- I think I will be running my Elise in Super D this year. Then I don't have to worry about what I run for tires. Under the new rule I can also get into T50 but not with the Hoosier A6s I like to run. T60 with Hoosier A6. I should get extra points off for age. Anybody on Medicare should get an extra 10 points off
I also plan on using an Exige Cup Car but not at NHMS. I have run the numbers yet but I think it will make it into Super C class. The car is too low for NHMS or any rough track.

Re: Super D ?
Same problem as JW. I may run Super D.
But Jeff, we both beat the COM Lighting track record this weekend, on freezing cold, worn out tires...

True, but the record was set when it was about 119 degrees. Not exactly power weather...6PAK72 wrote:Same problem as JW. I may run Super D.

Just curious, but compared to what other cars in T50. I thought the BMW M is out of the class.is underpowered compared to many other cars in T50. Was wondering if Super D might be a bit more fun....

Re: Super D ?
Looked at the Super power/weight ratios and think we need a superE class. an ITA miata is no where near the the top of the Super D numbers.

....conflicting requirements. If ITA compliance is more important etc...
I'm running an NC Miata at nearly 2700 pounds to be in T50 because I want to stay in the class so much.

Re: Super D ?
Hmm. I could always add 65-70 pounds of ballast and run in T40 on Nitto.
Except I'd be dead because Julie would kill me.

This is what I decided to do, but I don't need the ballast.

Re: Super D ?
Bill Hosselbarth is also going to run Super D, He is the one who suggested that I run Super D too, That way I wouldn't have to worry about what tires I run.
Troy, maybe you should try Super D It's a lot less hassle than worrying about points.
