Raj --- I need the roll bar hollow so I can put the Nitrus Oxcide in it. Plus with my weight that equals all the bowling balls you could fit in the car Is the Lotus in your class ? If it is you have such a great weight advantage over me, You could run a Cadillac Deville and it would weigh less than me in my Mustang

I think the Elise is in ST1. It's probably trickier to drive at the limit than my pig, but a well driven one should own the class.
I went to a BMWCCA event last year, and I was chasing down an instructor in an Elise. The car is certainly not underpowered, especially when it peels out of turns faster than I was. He was also braking for the south chicane between 1 and 2
I don't think he was driving to its potential, since there were some turns where I did gain on him. His power steering belt did not break though Stupid Subarus.

Raj, have seen well-prepped little Loti (singular for Lotus?) do under 58 second laps at LRP. The guy was most impressive and am sure the turbo helps put more power down. I contemplated a used Elise but considering how I drive, and considering how fragile an Elise is, decided to go with something a bit brawnier
By the way, Dan, what model is your Mustang? The 06 STi weighs in at 3350 lbs

Amen on it being fragile. I was instructing with another group at WGI last year and as my student driver and I apexed T10 it looked like 4 cars had collided and were all over the track b4 T11.
Turns out it was ONE Elise that did the "I think I can save it" routine, hit the armco and must have exploded. Body sections (not pieces) all over the place with two folks sitting in the remaining frame. One, the owner turns out, was rather upset at the instructor who had been driving.
Anyhow should folks be thinking about tracking one (I have driven and ridden and they are fast and fun) consider adding protection.

The place I am getting my car caged at has an Exige that the guy literally bought and dropped off to get caged without ever turning the key to drive it, minus loading it on the trailer.Don P wrote:Amen on it being fragile. The cage is an engineering masterpiece, trust me, but they intentionally made the wall thickness quite a bit more beefy than required. The Exige will be in with Firebirds and Camaros and such, I don't even want to imagine what happens if it would get hit.

You guys scare me I was thiking of a Caterham (Lotus 7) But this Elise came by and I couldn't refuse it. I am a sucker for good deal. I would like to try S2000 on the track but don't want to cut up the interior for a roll bar (car is perfect) , plus I don't fit in it . The Elise I can barely fit in now, so if I had to cage it -- no room for Me Plus it has the soft top not the removeable hard panel. I guess I will stay with the Mustang and let Raj woomp my behind, By the way Raj my Mustang weights 3720# on the NHIS scales without me (250#) but with a half tank of fuel

The turbos on the Lotus have more problems than benefits as the factory ECU is way too complicated. I havent seen any trouble free turbo Lotus running around yet.
