Looks like it to me.chaos4NH wrote:Hi Nate,
I am looking at a 1996 Nissan 200SX SE-R (2.0 liter, 140 HP, same as Sentra SE-R). Would that also run in SSC?

On the old thread, Mike said the following. I'll respond below.
Can someone please tell me why the 350Z has been moved to SSU?
If your response is because it has similar statistics to the 300ZX-TT then I submit that the 300ZX-TT should be moved back to SSGT not move the 350Z to SSU.
In an analysis of Weight, Horsepower, Torque, Skidpad, and breaking distance the 350Z had similar numbers, mostly not as good, to the following cars:
Lotus Exige and Elise
Audi S6 and S4 (PS. S4 should not be in SSA)
Porsche Boxter S
Acura NSX
All of the above would be SSGT Cars in the new rules.
Most of the SSU cars have considerably higher numbers than all of the cars above, including the 350Z.
I know many will claim that I just want to slide through with out any competition. I would very much like competition. There is no doubt that the 350Z falls near the top of performance in the SSGT Class but no more so than any of the cars listed above.

The S4 is now in SSGT, not SSA - see above.
I'm doing some more shuffling as I continue to add numbers to my database. I'll post another revision shortly.

The 350Z came up in some preliminary steward discussions. The idea was that the 350Z should be classed with the Subaru WRX STi and Mitsubishi Evo:
Code: Select all
Car Weight Hp Power/Weight Proposed Class
---------------------------------------------------------
Subaru WRX STi 3351 300 11.17 SSU
Nissan 350Z 3400 300 11.33 SSU
Mitsubishi Evo 3285 286 11.49 SSU
96 Miata #72 SC
PRA 4
PRA 4
On that note:
2007 Corvette Z06
3132 lbs
505 hp
6.2 lbs/hp
2006 Dodge Viper
3380 lbs
510 hp
6.6 lbs/hp
Good thing most Corvette guys don't know how to drive except for that tool Ken Smith I kid, I kid!
SSU is the class where you go when you have too much power out of the box. Not enough cars show up to break it down into further classifications. If you look at the results, we've had at most 2-3 people in SSU in every event except Oct NHIS. Same with STGT (or should I say STi-GT).
