2017 Honda Civic Type R

Hello,

This season i have retired my trusty but aging 2009 Civic Si for a 2017 Civic Type R.

I cannot select the car in the Classification tool, assuming it has not been added yet.

Most of the modifications are minor like tires wheels brake pads a rear sway bar and some different springs.

Would love to know where this car is going to be classes so i can start fabricating some stickers haha!

My guess would be a base class of T70, not sure if the rules alias got back to you but I'd think that's a good fit for the car.

Hi guys. We took care of the points offline. The 2017 Civic Type R comes out to 78.1 points. It'll be in the 2020 Rule Book.

There must have been some sort of confusion because i am looking at a 2019 civic type r that is registered for NHMS and it is apparently in T60? is it a T60 or T70 car because that changes everything from a classing standpoint....

Eddy, talk with an event steward on Saturday. The car you are questioning is probably a few 100 lbs over curb weight (so neg points back), and might also be on a tire that gives some points back. So if it was a base assessment of low 70 points, it could be high 60s in points depending on setup.

Stock it comes with 245 Conti SportContact 6 (UTQG 240) so that's -7 points for compound and -1.3 for section right there. More points for weight of driver and fluids. It could easily drop into the T60's if it's mostly stock.

That's how the classing works out for all cars. The showroom assessment assumes certain tire section (by class) and compound (zero-point for all cars), and the curb-weight. Because not all gas tanks are full, and not all COMers weigh the same, we also adjust weight. Near-stock cars on street tires will e running below their baseline assessment. My BRZ has 52 points showroom assessment but I'm able to run in T30 with the right tires and competition weight.

I must be doing my weight wrong or have the tires in the wrong category for stock.

If your tires aren't specifically listed, use the UTQG number (and tire section) to assess points. If they are listed then use that entry. For weight, you can make a reasonable guess at how much your competition weight exceeds your curb weight by adding your weight and 6 lbs/gallon of fuel. Better to underestimate than overestimate. You can check at a TT next year as COM now has scales!

I actually did go on the scales this past weekend and to my surprise i was very close !

I am now understanding what i did differently!
