2013 Licenses and NHMS Open Test

Post by Brendan » Wed Apr 10, 2013 7:41 pm

So, car isn't quite ready to make it to our date this Friday, but I'm considering next Friday for one of NHMS' open test days if this weekend goes well in the garage. Never been to one before, but it says you need an active license. Have ours been printed out yet? Can they be mailed out, or can they be picked up if need be?

Guessing not, but anyone else considering next Friday's event?

Thanks,
Brendan

Most definitely, esp. since this week's weather looks so unpleasant.

Brendan, next Friday's track-run test day will be filled with mostly SCCA racers, prior to the first regional race weekend. It's open passing, so be prepared for that. Think packs of swarming Miatas and anything goes. Stay below the blend line at track-out...they're anal about it, and watch you mirrors. You'll be running the south oval all day.

I PM'd Will a similar question yesterday but have yet to get a response, our thoughts were that I would like it in hand when I go to NASA Comp School on the 18th @ NJMP - Lightening and Dad is thinking he may like to try the LRP Test Day on I think the 23rd ...... maybe he will catch this post.

Thanks for the heads up. Not ideal, but better than no shakedown at all.

Is the "open" test day run by NHMS or the SCCA? Is having an active COM license enough to qualify for participating in the "open" test day or do you need to have an active SCCA license to be able to run?

It's run by NHMS. Your COM license will get you in.
I'm not sure how they're running this one, but in the past you could purchase a full day, or opt to run 1/2 day. If I recall it was $100 for 1/2 day.

The morning is usually empty, so you'll get the most open space then. Plus it's only an extra $50 for 4 sessions. The afternoon fills up quickly, and since it's the first test day of the season all the yahoos will be there.

Licenses are not printed yet, sorry.

Production won't start before the week of the 22nd, but they should be ready by Summit.

Brendan,
There are a few of us going to LRP next Friday. Reg is probably closed but it might be worth asking. Email me if you're interested.

Thanks - probably better for me to shoot for NHMS, because I won't know if I'm ready until Sunday or Monday. (Car's pretty close, but have a couple key things I need to get done this weekend before I can commit to anything.)

The other thing about LRP - my car wouldn't make sound as is, if the limitations are in effect that day... Need to worry about that before Tremblant too, but not happening this weekend.

It displayed my license in a separate tab. Do you have popups blocked?
