Not bad! Still slower than the 240Z around NHMS, though! Not to mention Will's and Gordon's Miatae
Hopefully having real tires and functioning power steering will help out next year...

Picture was taken just after the run. Blue 3M painter's tape stayed on. However, a wad of the Dollar General Store cheap-o masking tape (off-white) I had used on Saturday did come off at 150mph. Then the same stuff refused to budge when I de-taped the car, leaving tape and goop remnants all over! Whereas the blue 3M stuff came off without issue.
ONLY use good stuff!
The car did not feel terribly stable at speed. The back end was moving around some, I had to steer it to stay straight. A bit disconcerting at 180+. Hopefully a front undertray and rear diffuser will help in that regard, I don't really want to spoiler or wing it. Maybe I'll add vertical fins a la 1957 Cadillac or 917...

Very impressive,Dan! For a stock aero body designed 20 years ago, that is damn impressive. You must have some stout HP under the hood...

Wow! That's great Dan. Try doing that with a Miata?

the '94 R2 (that I had and is now my Lotary 7) had a rear wing. You didn't want the drag?

Zackly, an increase in Cd of even 0.01 would result in a 1mph lower speed! And I like the pseudo-sleeper clean look
Mine is a '94 base model, so it didn't come with a sunroof (yay!) or rear wing.
Obviously for track work, it could use a serious rear wing, but it is primarily a street car and I'll probably never put a big wing on it. If I do the Texas mile or similar event again, I might consider a modest wing, something like the FD "Bathurst" one. Would be interesting to try a wing with and without the main element (i.e. try it with just the supports acting as vertical fins).

what have you done to the engine? two years ago I canned the twin turbos and had DentSport do a great single Garrett ball bearing turbo and fine manifold.

No turbo(s). No rotors, either
It's an LS2, with L92 heads, LS3 intake, mild cam. There was a freshly built turbo rotary FD at the event, but by the time I got there Friday afternoon, it had already expired!

Below 190mph, no roll bar/cage required (except for convertibles).
Even at 190+, 4-point roll bar and 5- or 6-point harness is all that's required. Full 8-pt cage is required at 215+

Holy S Dan, that is awesome! Time for a rollbar though, eh?
Second improvement, after the bar, in-car camera.
