st3 classifaction
i have a subaru impreza with a 2.2 that blue up and i was wondering if i used a stock 2.5 motor with everything else stock also would this be the class i would be in? or could i run in ssb? bolth motors are from the same year car

ok so rebuilding my 2.2 would be more advisable. so i can be in a class that im competive in, due to my limited budget

Yes Geoff, that is correct.
Unfortunately, the 2.2 to 2.5L swap would put you into SPC. Stick with the 2.2 and dominate SSC!

ok thanks now time to tear this motor apart and get some pistions. so do you have to run cats in ssc beacuse bolth on this car are full of oil,fuel,and carbon due to one of the ring lands breaking and sending all the oil out the tail pipe,

never mind just read it you have to run cats,can you run universal cats? the oe ones are $1600 for bolth from subaru and 600 for bolth from some place online but a universal is 100 o yea i have a 97 subaru impreza

From ST rules:
Aftermarket headers may be used. Muffler use is required, but type is unrestricted. Exhaust must exit behind rear
wheels and outside the body. Exhaust tubing size is unrestricted. Catalytic converters must be used in cars originally
equipped with them. Non-stock replacement of the catalytic converter is allowed.
