Nice! I love it when the solution is cheap and simple... Good move :)

In the realm of fixing cars, a Pertronix unit is pretty damn cheap!

Time to dyno again? Here's to making more than 108 at the wheels :P

Anyone have a Dyno connection for less than $225/hr?

I was running it this afternoon on back roads, intentionally on the old Michelin Red Lines. Came through WIlton center, 90-degree right turn, uphill, hit the throttle, it power-slid in third...scared the shit out of the MGTD in front of me...Gotta love torque and shitty tires. :D

When we ran Watkins the second time last year, we got to run the Old Course through town at speed with a police escort. Right turn after the State park, maybe 1/10 mile to a 90-degree left, uphill 30* incline hard RPM's in second. Every time I hit that turn the tires wanted to walk toward the rock wall...kept screaming up the hill like my old Charger trying to find traction.

The next day, I put the Goodrich's on it, ran the corner again - not even a chirp, just a wobble from the traction bar. How they raced on the Red Lines I'll NEVER know.

Excellent news! Now we just need Sam to call in the "no rain" favors for Tremblant. See you there.

40% chance of showers on Monday, partly sunny with only a 20% chance of showers on Tuesday. All in all it should hold off for the time trials, the clouds roll in over the hills, but usually after 3pm. Temps both days only in the high 60s (hhhhhmmmm, cool weather, lots of turbo power and maybe some uber sticky A6's?).
Have some tuning of a different sort happening with the GG. Probably working Saturday on a new Spec2+ clutch to cure the non-release problems.

Jeff, you could try Pete Johnson over at Performance dyno in Concord NH. http://www.performance-dyno.com/New%20S ... -Dyno.html

His pricing is reasonable, and he is quite knowledgeable on the tuning of various platforms.

Best of luck.

First thing I did was spin it - the front-rear balance was WAY unfamiliar to an American Iron driver.
No, those cars had terrible bump steer in the rear suspension. You swapped ends because of trailing throttle oversteer. It's an education :)

Sorry to hear you had so many issues with your engine tune. It used to only cost me $350 dollars a day for dyno time. I should check prices again. I think I know Mike French ( Frenchie? ). If that's who I remember, I think he would agree on a good dyno place. It's a dyno stand though, not a rolling type setup. There is *a lot* to be said for going to someone who has spent their whole life building and dyno'ing engines for the track. I'm shocked someone sent you home saying that long duration cam "ran-out" at such a low RPM. Those folks are not building motors to be flogged to an inch of their life. Since your using your car on the track, that's what you want. ( You don't actually have to flog it to death, you just want to know you could do that :) )

I'll try to send you a PM with some more info....

Blasphemer!
240Z's did NOT have "terrible bump steer in the rear suspension"!
Quite the contrary, The Z's Chapman struts have ZERO toe change with bump. You can hang an S30 Z's tail out all day long and bring it back in with ease. VERY easy to drive.
280ZX's had the semi-trailing arms (just like BMW's of that era had), ewwww...

My more modern AP1 S2000, now it has rear bump steer issues, ON PURPOSE (despite double-wishbones every corner)! The uninitiated throw these cars into ditches and curbs on a daily basis.
Progress?
They did "fix" the S2000's rear bump steer in '04, but why'd they make the EXACT same mistake that was made with the FC RX-7 and with the NSX on the '00-'03 S2000? Toe change with bump was and is a dumb idea!

Oops, sorry then. I didn't have a 240Z to look at and it was a long time ago! I drive a BMW of the era and that was part of my reason for the comment. I was picturing those semi-trailing arms...

I need to see the rear of a Z to get this...stationary, please! Not passing the TR!!!

See you all in Montreal. Thanks for the data, come on by and kibbutz if you have a chance.

Also, I think Liz and I are playing tunes in the bar at the Hotel Mont Tremblandt on Saturday night with the pub owner. Swing on by if you can stand Irish music.

I hope next year. I loved the trip I made there years ago... :)
