Just got back from the land of the blondes and pickeled herring
And smoked eel (paaling), great Alfa clubs, great Indonesian food. Land of Amstel and Heineken :wink:

I think Troys car even makes more than 305tq. :wink:
However it's not just the peak numbes that are critical.
Having that torque available from 3-7k rpms is a huge factor in overall performance.
I could just imagine the Miata with the Cobra powerplant... :shock:

An FFR Challenge Cobra with a Terminator drivetrain would be interesting... :twisted:

Not to continually move this thread off topic, but last year I drove Mick's car for the open session at Tremblant. With some time I could have easily matched my lap times in the mustang, and I didn't feel the want for more HP.....though I think I'd really have to grow a set of balls to match my lap times this year with his car.

I suspect an S2000 would be roughly the same in that respect. Assuming I can carry more speed in the turns with the lighter machine, I'm thinking I won't be too disappointed.

btw: The Cobra makes monster torque....about 475 lb/ft of torque at peak, and never under 400 from just under 2k to just under 6k.

In the hands of a better driver, I'm sure the car would be amazing.

....now if I can keep from popping another head gasket..... :(

Hey,I started the thread;who cares if it goes off topic? Not me.

4cyl cars are a lot of fun. :D Less can be more;

Momentum becomes your friend.Less wasted energy.

Much less wear and tear on all components....and less components that usually cost....less!

Less fuel needed too.

..and easier to tow.

or push... :shock:

As far as better drivers...isn't that what we all aspire to become? :wink:

Isn't Micks E30 a 6? Those make a lot more torque than a n/a 4.


However,I still like the big ole honking V-8's :twisted:

I wasn't sure, as he is amazingly fast and I have not looked under the hood.:shock:

I read the early M3's could be had with either a 4 or 6.

all the more reason to consider a 4cyl. track car

1st gen M3's (e30 1988-1991) were only available with a 4 cylinder. Originally with a 2.3L, then later an Evolution version with a 2.5L for Europe only.

The US 2.3L made 192 hp, 170 lb/f
The Euro 2.5 made 220 hp, 181 lb/ft

I was confusing the other E30 chassis with the M3. Always learning.
