our hope is to draw more new people in, and that once the hook is set they will see the light and WANT more safety equipment.

The rules are that car classifications cannot be changed during the season. Make proposed changes next October/November or earlier if the changes are sweeping.

I applaud the BOD for making this change. I certainly respect the opinions of those who think this may not be a good thing but I am happy to see it.

I too believe in safety and run a SA full face helmet, neck restraint and a world class harness bar and harness setup. However, as I am tall (6'4") I had no hope of going up to an SP class and passing the 2" rule for rollbars.

Now I can safely go to SP with my new hiem joint IRS suspension and even consider coilovers for my car! WOOHOO.

You are welcome Tom! Your input in the rules meeting last year and some conversations with guys who run with SCDA, and other clubs, were key in our decision.

As for the changes ctkrag favors, I hope that does not come to pass. ST has been thought of as the suspension, intake and exhaust mod class, with SP being more motor oriented, i.e. boost controllers, cams, aftermarket turbos, etc. ST cars have a legimate place in the rules. We have opened up the SP rules, so mod away for SP.

Just noticed that there are a couple of misprints in the rules blurb on the Home page. Says "ST" in a couple of places where it should say "SP."
