ITS class?

Hi, I am wondering what claas a SCAA ITS Mazda rx7 would be in? Thinking of a possible purchase... thanks.

A well-prepped ITS RX7 would be a good car in SPC imo.

The ITS RX7s are 12Bs, which are SPB cars.

Off the top of my head, the only issue I can think of is a fuel cell. If the car has a fuel cell and it is within the passenger compartment, you'll have to modify the setup to make it legal in SP.

Best of luck with the car, and be sure to read through the COM rulebook carefully!

maybe even Leos and Bruce will jump back in the mix and make things interesting

.. and an ITS RX7 is NOT competitive in SPB. Spoken as one who raced the first Greased Shadow, an 86 RX7 with a Speedsource bridge ported 11,000 rpm motor very successfully until the Clearys boosted their Eclipse to 50(?) psi and blew me away.

Thanks guys, Yeah John I probably will stay in SPA but you know how winter is... start looking at race cars for sale and all : That is what i was looking at Bruce, a SpeedSource car... may try to get a SCAA comp. license and go have someone crash me :lol:
More than likley stick with the ole' 93 and try not to get lapped by John in that rear engined german thing :lol: :lol: , thanks for the info.

You'd need to add the windows first - you can't see anything from that back of that abomination. Or maybe you could drive around the track with the door raised and the students hanging out?

Mazda made 12A's, 13B's and 20B's. The ITS cars are 13B's, not 12B's... :)

SCCA ITS track records we hold in RX-7's:

Lime Rock - 1:00.8
NHIS - 1:14.1 South Oval
NHIS - 1:19.8 Chicane-Chicane
WGI Long - 2:14.1 With loop
Pocono - 1:49.1

The RX-7's can be real fast and real fun and real reliable when built right. Have fun!!!

I know you "older" guys are aware of this, but perhaps not some of the 20-30 something bunch. Back in and around 1970, the instructor would load 4 or 5 students into someones car and drive the line for a few laps. You were then allowed to go trash your car! How times have changed! :!:

Some clubs are still in the 1970's! (Unfortunately?)

I ran with CART about 4 years ago, and had that '70's experience. ;)

Sorry about the 12A / 13B brain-fade. Might be a sign that I'm a bit low on vitamin 12-B! ;)
