Hope everyone has a good time at the Glen!

The Grand Am race that was held there a couple weeks ago was on SpeedTV last night. The gravel trap at turn 1 is now paved. Probably will be good for those who just don't slow down enough for turn 1, bad for those who actually lose their brakes entirely. After the pavement there is a tire wall followed by jersey barriers.

I sure would like to know how much money and talent it takes to get a Chevy Cobalt to turn a laptime of 2:13 on the long course at the Glen. Lots of both, I think.
TALENT for Sure

Post by Don P » Tue Jun 21, 2005 11:06 am

Regarding the Cobalt - money &/or talent. A couple of months ago I was instructing with SCDA at the Glen and was a passenger in a Lotus Elise going up the backstraight with an experienced driver at 120 -125 mph when the driver said "I'll let this guy pass"....so who/what passes us? A 2005 Mercury Marquis rental car driven by one of three drivers who had never been to the Glen before and had flown in and rented this boat to check the course out before the Grand Am race. Auto, all season street tires, oem Y harness. It was such a fun sight to behold, very humbling.
I was only feeling a little inadequate before, now I feel like I shouldn't even bother to show up!
