NHIS Configuration
NHIS Configuration
Do we know which configuration will be run this weekend (10/21-10/22)?
Thanks
Thanks
I would like South oval. We haven't done that this year.

Thanks Mark. However, I'm sorry to hear that.
NHIS is arguably a glorified autox, it's a shame the club doesn't at least get a chance to run the only configuration that allows the car to open up a little bit. Chicane/chicane = no sense of flow brutal & stress on the car.
Am I right in remembering that the track decides which config we will run? That being the case, I was also under the assumption that chicane/chicane was used for foul weather & early year events. Has a reason been given?

Mark, At the BMWCCA club race in July, NHIS said it would run all school events as chicane-chicane unless requested for competition. The track was set-up first thing in the morning for chicane-chicane since Boston Chapter was also running a school at the same time. BMWCCA asked to change to south oval and the track moved the barriers and cones before the first car out at 9:00am. I hope you can work that magic for the faster config.

Unfortunately, Mark is right. NHIS just does not care about club member interests.Seven wrote:Pairing the late date with the obvious concerns of introducing an entirely new config to the Club... can we focus on the prospect of persuading NHIS to allow for the South Oval config?
I assume the majority of the club would be interested in this config. No?

I agree that South Oval would be great, and I still have my fingers crossed.
Just to let everyone know, the board has been requesting South Oval at NHIS for a while now. Earlier this year we were told that no clubs would be running South oval until around September or so, at which time NHIS would revisit the idea. We've been asking, but I have no idea what the answer will be.
Fingers are crossed for South Oval!!

NHIS categorically says chicane-chicane for all future events. Until COM requires roll-cages, fire supression, and advanced driver training, we cannot run any oval any more. There is no discussion from their end.
Sorry. I would rather not speculate as to why this new policy is in place. I have yet to hear from NHIS with their official reason for the policy.
