Stephen Hosker

Post by TroyV » Thu Aug 23, 2018 4:18 pm

Today, we lost our friend, Stephen Hosker, after a long battle with an illness. Steve was a long time COM member and a fierce competitor. He was also a very positive influence in our paddock as a mentor to the new folks and set a great example to all of us of how to pursue the things in life that make us happy.

We will miss you.

Steve was the first person I got to know in COM. It was my second outing at NHMS in 2010. When I signed up for that weekend Steve contacted me to invite me to share garage space 12A with him. Its been 12A ever since. It was a little part of heaven, where I'm sure Steve is now. We had a group of Miatas with Richard Murphy, Rob Reedy, Barry and Tom. They all made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. We shared garages ever since.
In 2013 we went to Summit Point. Steve took my track tires and racing seat in his truck and I drove my trusted Miata with the "original comfortable" seat. It was my first adventure out of NE to race and Steve convinced me to go...I'm so glad he did.
Over the years Steve helped me with my car and my driving in so many ways. Advising on air pressure, brake pads, front hubs, etc. and his driving was so smooth it just made me want try harder. He would say "there's no coasting in COM"..."you go from gas to brakes", nothing in between.
I'll miss Steve, I already do. Gods speed my friend.

Steve was one of the best. I have many memories of being in garage 26 at NHMS across from him and Peter. He was always ready to offer any help or advice to those of us who were hoping to someday be able to drive and compete like he did.
Godspeed, Steve.

So sad. The last time I saw Steve, he had his arms shoulder deep into a Miata doing an engine swap at the Wasilko's house. It was January, 2017 and several of us were there working/socializing. I knew he had been sick but had no idea the situation was so dire. We'll be missing Steve (the one with the hat) for sure. Such a great dude.

Steve was a quiet guy, but fierce competition on the track.
Anytime I had a question or needed advice, Steve was right there
Every
Damn
Time

Helping with repairs
or
Helping me get up to speed through south oval
or
selling me his suspension!

Some of my best COM memories are chasing Steve on track.
He was taken too soon.
I miss him already.

Steve and Peter welcomed me into the club at my first COM event at NH, even though I was driving the wife's Toyota and not a Miata  .Great guy, funny sense of humor, and always there to answer a question. I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to spend more time with him. Godspeed Sir!

Spreading the word.

Steve requested no services, and his family complied, but his friends are putting a remeberance on for later this month.

COM has been in touch with the organizers and we have 25 “tickets” put aside for us. I’m sure we can bring as many as we want, so don’t think you need a hard ticket or anything, it we might have to cycle folks thru the room if it gets crowded. Please join us for a drink or two and to celebrate the life and times of our friend along with his other family and friends .

If you’ve got some good photos drop me a note we’d like to put a poster or two together of Steve in action to bring along.

Pulled from the Facebook page:

THIS POST HAS BEEN 👌 WITH THE FAMILY

Due to overwhelming request to hold something for Stephen Hosker his "Dudes" have put together a time to remember "Stephen Hosker"

The event will be held at the OTG- Onion Town Grill & Sports Bar located at 175 Water Street, Danvers, MA
Saturday September 29, 2018
From 4pm-8pm

Veggie trays, Cheese Trays, Pizza and Chicken fingers will be served. There will be a cash bar available. There will be a full menu on the pub side for anyone wishing to have dinner.
Due to fire codes only 100 are to be in the function room at any given time. All are still welcome to come as a lot of people will go to and from the pub side.

There will be a request for donation of $20-$25.00 per person to cover the cost of the food and any monies left will be donated in Steve's name to the leukemia foundation.
We are all aware of how Steve left his foot prints on each and every person he encountered in his short life. This is a way for all of us to come together to memorialize Steve and send him into his next life.

For those who wish to join us please contact the following people to get a ticket.
Patty Fournier at 978-790-3041
Vickie Fournier at 617-921-1536
