Re: Onsite camping at Watkins and Thompson?
I was at Thompson this past Friday going over some points for a contract (for a convention in 2015) and they are charging anyone who rents the track facilities $550 for "camping". When I asked specifically it this is a tent of a motor home, the response was (if you are spending overnight at the track's facilities the club will be charged. SO always best to check. If COM is paying to this I am sure the cost will be frayed by those using the facilities.
As for WGI I know they charge a hook-up fee for those spending the night as well but not having done so I cannot confirm.

I think this is pretty hostile.
I do not think that i want to attend any tracks who will charge me to sleep in my trailer. I have ever heard of a track that does not assume that some people stay

I believe NHMS charges COMSCC $500 for camping and security.

I see. I guess my perspective is incorrect.
Can I expect that at any track that COM attends I will be permitted to sleep in my trailer (as has been the case so far)? I have been assuming yes.
thanks for the clarification.

Many tracks charge a Club renting the track an additional Fee to allow people to stay overnight. Some of that cost is used for "security" to remain overnight. I know LRP and WGI both have additional charges in their contracts.

Re: Onsite camping at Watkins and Thompson?
I tent camp at WGI and hope to do it at Thompson. That being said, tent camping at WGI is around the perimeter of the paddock, not in the camp sites used by the public at the big races. Thompson is an unknown, but unless they specifically say no, I'll camp therejvangelder wrote:Is camping IE a tent allowed at WGI and Thompson during COM events?

Could we get some clarification from the club on the camping/no camping situation? I am planning on going to Thompson and The Glen and camping at both. If there is a conflict I want to know now not when I am setting up camp!!!

I have always camped at every COM event (including WGI) and expect to continue doing so without being charged extra.

COM has historically paid the overnight security fee, to allow for camping inside the facility at WGI, and not all clubs do. If you want electricity to plug in a camper, they charge $50 per event. Thompson is new on the schedule, we have to see what their policy will be.4EyedFoxbody wrote:Could we get some clarification from the club on the camping/no camping situation? I have not yet seen the contract that was negotiated by the Prez, but the club pays the "camping Fee" at NHMS and Watkins Glen. Will post when I know about Thompson.
