Airbagged Trailers
Airbagged Trailers
Interesting concept.
Not sure how you'd deal with opening the car door once loaded, maybe a remote to raise it up.

Very interesting concept..however starting at $20k..that buys a lot of planks!

I could have used that at least ten times, but they did not show how easy it was for the guy to push his broken RX7 onto the trailer.

US price is supposed to be around $12k. They're working with a supplier and still not avail here.

Re: Airbagged Trailers
$12k would be much more reasonable, but even at that price level, they will be competing with fully enclosed all aluminum trailers..so I like the idea..but just don't see the demand for an open trailer at $12k. Most who could afford that level of trailer would probably opt for the enclosed alu, unless their tow rig couldn't pull one..but then we are back to the budget minded people who would probably opt for an open trailer (with ramps) and save at least $6k over the air drop unit. It is a cool idea..I wonder if they have plans for an enclosed model.

Re: Airbagged Trailers
you know what was funny is i'm trying to get approval from the federal NHTSA to build car trailers so they can be sold all over the 50 states and not as home built .
so after 50 calls and getting no were I go to the office in CT .
after getting bounced from person to person and dept. to dept. I come across this women that with out really looking at my plans and all the other paper work I have for the spec's on the trailers along with a complete parts list right down to every nut and bolt needed .
she said well it has to have driver and passenger air bags ! and I don't see then even listed here .
I stood up and because of getting bounced around all day I said lady it's a dam car hauler trailer and just walked out !
maybe I will redesign the suspension using air bags to make her happy ?

i looked into this a few years ago. if this is not going to be your only business, it might not be cost effective. back when i looked into it, if i recall correctly, my break even point was going to be about 35-40 trailers sold/year, with the added cost of insurance and all the little things it wasnt worth it to me.
need parts for your trailer, welding repairs/fabrication (sorry cant do aluminum), tires mounted and balanced, feel free to email/pm me. i am located a little west of nashua. ted

Re: Airbagged Trailers
it would be a full time business .
the business plan I did I would have to sell 28 trailers a year .
I would have no equipment to buy as I own every thing needed now to build them .
the biggest cost is all the crap you have to do for the fed's .
the other part that will cost a lot is getting a building to manufacture them in . I have two small shops one is the shop in Hamden the other is were all the equipment is in a residential area were you can not open a business in .
i'm so tired of working on cars and would love to get the hell out of it !
like so many other trail owners after owning a hand full of them over the years you find out what is good and bad about them .
