New York Safety Track - Safety Barriers Up Yet?
New York Safety Track - Safety Barriers Up Yet?
I just got a heads-up regarding the Ferrari Club event at NYST next weekend. The hook is that they expect to have only two run groups. Does anyone know if that track has erected safety barriers yet?

Re: New York Safety Track - Safety Barriers Up Yet?
I was there Sunday with some friends. There was no curbing in place yet ( I am told will be soon --not sure if that means before Ferrari event)
The run off area is not nice in some spots. There are trees etc that are do not have barriers in front of them and other areas where runoff room is not pretty. You have to be prudent in some areas as going in too deep could be ugly if you go off.
Greg L and all the NYST staff are very friendly and accommodating --but it is a bike track, the course is very tight and if driven within limits is OK. If a novice was to throw caution to the wind, they could get into serious trouble.
Passing zones --well there is a long front straight. We were able to pass in other areas with some cooperation ( slower cars really letting off /braking to allow other car by) -- but the other zones are very short. 1 car for the most part --but 2-3 if very experienced drivers.
I have a crude track map in PDF format with corner numbers if you want one emailed
In this photo you can see the drop off near the cone

Paddock is very small. Neighbors take your photo on the way in--so make sure you smile .......

Thanks, DJ - looks like they have a ways to go before they're ready for cars trying to run fast laps.
