TESLA TEST DRIVE by Stephan!

Post by StephanAlfa » Mon Jun 24, 2013 3:26 pm

I had a chance to test drive a Tesla last week.
Yakima has a deal with them where we rack the car with a WHISPBAR so they came to our annual sales meeting for a pitch.

Yeah, I had to sign a waiver for crashes and tickets ... if I did any of them it would not have been cheap!
I was the first one to test, by the time the last drivers were up they had to chance the route because some local residents called the cops! So what if I was doing 37 on 35 zone eh!

What! I did not hear any rubber squeal!
Steering ratio seemed slow.
How would you rate handling compared to an M3 or M5?

No rubber squeal because of traction control Bruce
But I did break in the brakes nicely (smelled after the test and light smoke coming from the calipers)
The car weights 4,770 lbs but the battery is spread along the chassis for log CG. Electric motor is "central" for added balance. Overall a heavy car much like I am learning to "drive by inertia" on the BMW

Wow! Almost the weight of my 4WD Chevy Avalanche truck! What is its tow rating?

Just guessing, but I suspect it doesn't have one.

Was this the Performance model with 416 HP / 442 TQ, Stephan?
