Classification with New Rules - Please Read

Post by SEISAN » Sun May 12, 2013 8:43 pm

It appears that several members are registering without changing their new classification on their members profile.

This leads to them being in classes that do not exist in the new rules system. That being the case we have cars in the following classes for New Hampshire 1 and Mt. Tremblanc. SSB - ST1 - ST2 - ST3 - ST4 - SSU - STGT -

In order to have the correct number of trophies for each event we need to have those registered in the correct class.

Kindly check and make sure your profile is correct and you are in the correct class for the Time Trials.

thanks

Bob Brooks

Trophy Chairman.

Maybe this should be sent as a general message via e-mail.
The change in car class needs to be done in the registration site's PROFILE and then communicated so Bob can be updated.

I'd also be curious how did the tech inspection went over at Summit Point and what will be the procedure for tech (especially on day 2) for the NHMS event?

At Summit Point there really wasn't time to check people's classification during the actual tech inspection but we did hand out sheets and asked people to fill them out and turn them in for review. We reviewed the sheets the night of day 1 to make sure we had everyone accounted for, and could make the class corrections since people had registered without changing their class first.

It is important that everyone set their class before registering since you wont be able to change it online after the fact.

Grab the latest spreadsheet classification tool from here. There is a print summary page as part of this version so you can easily print and bring it to the track with you.

Is there a way within the reg site to remove the old classing options?

There is. The issue is that the profiles that have the invalid settings would have to have the value replaced with something.

The easiest way is for everybody to go in and update there profiles before they register for any event.

Maybe FF can put a one time pop up that you have to update your profile before you register.

Otherwise it puts the same ( if incorrect ) information every time they register.

If is incorrect then the registar has to void out their registration and they have to re register with the correct profile information.

It also causes payment issues and credit issues.

It is a lot of unnecessary work for the registar.

There was an email sent out to members a month or so ago to do this. I would assume that many of the drivers that have registered may be students and not aware of the class changes.

Bob I've been reaching out via email to the folks that have incorrect registration, when I collect all the info I'll be in touch.

I'm sure this has already been considered, but why not reject registrations with invalid classes at the point of registering, and at the same time pop up a message box instructing the member to change their profile class to a valid class?

Chris,

There are some who can run in several classes.

It is really up to the individual to make sure their information is correct. And if there is a dispute that is when the scuiteneers step in to clear up any issues. Usually if there is a protest.

Its more of an honor system.

It isn't unheard to have a member "bump" them self up in class too.
As Bob points out it is up to the member what class he wants to register in.

Yes they can register in any valid class they want. I only reached out to offer classing assistance for those that had invalid classes, wrong class for the car, or one of the deleted classes. It's just an offer of help, they don't have to take it.

Chris,

Thats great that you reach out and help. I think one of the issues is that not all members get on the forum and therefore do not follow any updates and changes. Also new and past members who want to get back are not quite up to speed with the new class system.

Hopefully the bugs will be worked out in a couple of events.

See you in NH

I don't understand how the Registrar can straighten out the classes, especially ST4.
