Hi Everyone. I'm still recalling the last event (residing in my "happy place") I can't wait until July NHIS...
Anyway my friend Bill is finishing his race car and is a SCCA license holder. He wanted me to ask if he can attend COM events and run solo without getting COM instruction/COM license.
I wasn't sure since the COM license is accepted by SCCA clubs if the inverse was also true.
Thanks a lot,
-A

COM License
Hi Alex -
He will have to go with an instructor initially. Usually an experienced driver can be "released" after a COM instructor observes safety/on-track courtesy, and consistency running the line.
He needs to join if he hasn't, and when completing on-line application have him provide an appropriate experience backgrounder.
Best,
Don

A COM license will not get you into a SCCA race. What some may be thinking is the open track practice days- where there will also be SCCA racers. Whole new ballgame SCCA vs. COM.cfossum wrote:I'm not sure that this is true.since the COM license is accepted by SCCA clubs

Thanks guys,
Scott, that's more of what I meant. I was sure that the COM license was not a license to race SCCA events but I did know it could be presented in lieu of an SCCA license for open track which is why I drew the parallel.
Thanks a lot for the info. I'll pass it along.
