Take a ride up Pikes peak in the Unlimited class winner

2012 unlimited class winners run.

..and, the car is for sale: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2012-Pal ... 3f1b2b912c

Dennis Palatov is a great guy and his company is capable of making most anything you can dream up.He built my Focus hubs and Atoms uprights, not to mention this very cool car. I do know the Pikes Peak special can be had for less...

After reading the specs on the car, it looks like this might be the car for Chad what with its AWD, tons o' power, and winning ways.

----- Watching Video -----

Geez, do want! This sounds & appears to be a conservative run by a driver who didn't know every corner of the road like the back of his hand (do any drivers know it that well?).

David Donner drove the Palatov car this year. He has quite a lot of experience behind the wheel, especially at Pikes:

"Donner’s background on Pikes Peak includes the three overall wins, numerous qualifying records and top three race finishes. He also has an extensive background in road racing including the 24 Hours of Daytona and Petite Le Mans."

I do agree watching the video, there were times when it seemed he was tentative..but I guess you had to be there to really know...

They were planning on using a turbo engine, but could not get everything ready in time this year,so they went with the normally aspirated Hartley V8,which made 400+ whp at the starting elevation, but only about 250whp at the summit. Next year they will have the turbo setup sorted out.550+whp...start to finish.
Palaotv has a great blog on their website that covers the entire building of the car if anyone is interested. You do have to register for access, but it is free. http://www.palatov.com/pikespeak/blog/login.php

Dennis offered me the PPS car..at a substantially reduced rate ( ) Tempting..but I would need to sell an Atom to afford something like the DP4. Maybe some day... :D :sunny:

^I did ask if he'd take trade-ins.. Dennis also built the first V-8 Atom.He bought a roller from brammo Motorsports in Ashland,Oregon and added the Hartley V8 drivetrain. The TMI Ariel factory came out with their own V8 option(Atom500) three years after Palatov completed his. A very innovative guy!
