Crash repair reccos in Foxboro/Boston MA area

Post by peterfontana » Wed May 30, 2012 9:49 am

I put the back end of my Porsche 911 ('92 C2) into the guard rail at NHMS yesterday. I would like a recommendation for a good crash repair shop in the Foxboro MA area. It's my 3-season driver, and time trial it 3-5 times a year, so I'm not looking for a museum-grade restoration. I'm looking for a solid, independent shop to do a good job for a fair price.

I attached a picture. As you can see in addition to the exhaust, quarters and bumper, the rear monocoque needs to get straightened out a bit.

Ultra Shine Collision in Marlboro.
Same industrial park as Apex Automotive Engineering.

Ultra-Shine does amazing work. Great people. I've dealt with many repair shops in the Greater Boston area over the years (to service company vehicles). Ultra-Shine is the best, by far.

On-site rental/loaners if you need one.

Hi Peter:
Sorry to hear that.
Should you run out of resources in you area, welcome to "tax free" NH and my guy here in Merrimack specializes in Euro cars (mechanic and body work) and is extremely reasonable.
He worked on my Alfa and is now working on the BMW.

I went to Sansossio a few years back after reading their ad in the BMW newsletter (they advertised in every issue).

I was very disappointed with my experience. I wouldn't waste a second on those self-important BMW fanbois.

I've seen repair work from this place. Excellent shop with quality work as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the tips. I have had specific recommendations for Barry's Auto Body in Natick. Does anyone have experience with Barry?

Like ever body shop, I've heard mixed reviews on Sansossio's. I will say that I have heard more good reviews then bad from them. Phil senior seems like a good guy and knows his stuff. I would advise talking with him directly if you go that route.

Thanks for the tips. Yesterday I spoke with Filipio at Sansossio's and his son Bill. They said they sub out any serious Porsche work to Barry's Auto Body right across the street. Barry seems very good - especially with Porsches - and is my default choice.

I know of Barry's shop. He is a specialist. I've seen some of the work, and have met Barry. That should be a good bet.

Tell David you want it to look like this when he's done.

I remember at one of my first COM events someone showed up in one of these. I thought it was really amazing and gorgeous. Probably a year or so after I saw the movie Lemans with Steve McQueen. I had no idea how f*** rare they were. To think someone time trialed one with COM...

i have done a full resto on one 904 GTS . that one in the photo i'm sure is a kit ? you can't put on the fuch wheels as to off set is totaly wrong and the door glass is not that of the 904's .
i have also done resto's on two 962's and paint only on a 917 over the years .
and more 911 bodied cars than i care to remember ! along with 356,914,914/6, and on and on . at my old shop about 80 % of the cars we did were porsches . now we have moved into the italian car market after owning them the owners seam to bring me more and more of them . a year or so ago i did a resto on a real lanica stratos i fell in love with that car !
