Give Alex at Dent Sport Garage a call. They might be able to do a nice weld in bar cheaper than you'd expect.

I believe Chris Howard (zChris on these forums) does the cages for DSG.
Either way, Chris does great work. He's done two cages for me, and has done many, many more COM cars (and SCCA, etc cars too...).
I'm pretty confident that Chris could do something as simple or as elaborate as you like, and probably at a better rate than most bolt-in cages. That said, I would trust Chris to build something he'd believe in, and perhaps more importantly, not build something he doesn't. He has a lot of experience and knowledge.
Chris Howard contact info is: (508) 429-6717 or email 5drew@comcast.net

Re: WTB: BMW E36 Coupe Roll Bar / Roll Cage
Thanks guys,
I have already received quotes from two cage builders. (will happily call Chris though)
I am looking for a cheap bar, because putting in a cage would stretch the budget a little thin for next year.
If i find a cheap bar i will install that. Otherwise, my tax return will become a nice cage.

You could try Pat Murphy at MASS chassis in Kingston NH 603-642-8967. He builds the cages and bolt in roll bars for Mario Langsten at VSR. He does great work and is not expensive too. I'm pretty sure he has a jig for a e36 bolt in bar there.
