Monticello in 2012?

Post by eastcoastbumps » Tue Aug 23, 2011 2:00 pm

I heard a rumor that Monticello will be available to rent to clubs again in 2012. Does the BOD know anything about this or is there a chance we'll have an event there next year?

That would be awesome. I really like that track and the fact it is close helps a lot too.

I don't think their exclusiveness resulted in many new membership signups.

At this point they probably got the okay from their BOD to sell a few track days to help balance the budget. Who knows what the price will be though.

We developed an excellent relationship with them and would be nice to be at that track again. I think it was there, the Chef Bob started his COM BBQ thing ... good memories, awesome track.

I'd love to go back there. I sort of look at it as Calabogie south. :)

Much closer.

when i was there as a guest this spring i was told that the neighbors were up in arms about the noise level from the non club members racing in 2010 . monticello opened there doors to non members for other reasons than just getting the club finished . they also opened there doors to other racing clubs to help the towns economy . i was told that so far in 2011 hotel and restaurant sales were down 2/3 from when the track was open to other clubs in 2010 . i was also told that because of less people going to the track in 2011 MMC did not have a need to hire as many people to work at the track so there are only about 1/2 the towns people hired for the 2011 season . so now the neighbors are all pissed off because MMC is not helping out the towns economy like they were told the club would . i like the track its a good lay out . the town sucks its a shit hole . will i run there again yep ! would it be good of they opened there doors to other clubs again ? i think so .

I would love to go back there.Perfect distance from me and technically challenging plus some really fast places. I would much rather have the majority of events there than at NHMS,but thats just me.

no i would not like to see monticello as our ( comscc's ) home track . i would like to see us running a little less at nhms and run more at other tracks . the thing with running at other tracks is the attendance ( lower turn out ). i would like to see comscc run at line rock . i'm not a big fan of line rock for many reasons one is that they bend clubs over with half days then they bend you over on the track rent . there is also no camping at the track i could keep going but you get my point . i would like to go to VIR with comscc . its about as far for me to go to the tracks in canada as it is for me to get to VIR . it would be a much longer drive for you guys that live up north . i try to go there once a year . but because of all the DR my car needs at this time i'm not driving more than 4 hours to get to any tracks this year .

Running at NHMS gives us enough money in the bank to afford losing money at the other tracks we run.

Interesting comment from someone who hasn't seen a COM balance sheet for how many years?
