NHMS - rent a garage or not?
NHMS - rent a garage or not?
Hi all,
I will be attending my first DE ever this Saturday at NHMS. Do you veterans think it's a good idea to rent a garage for the day? I don't plan on working on my car between sessions and would like to be close to other drivers to meet everyone. What would you recommend?
Thanks

If you can afford it, rent the garage. If it's hot, you will have some shade. if it rains, you and your stuff will have shelter. Weatherguessers calling for thunderstorms in afternoons.

I usually don't plan on working on my car between session either. It just works out that way. The garage has electrical outlets and shade.

I think it's only $25 per day right? Well, I signed up for a garage and hope to meet you all.

Even the people that don't rent garage spaces still hang out in the garages, check out the cars, make some friends.

In 24 years with the club I have never rented a garage. But now i have a trailer with an awning. And A/C.

How much to rent your trailer?

Greetings! Good call. Life is a lot easier with a safe place to store your gear. The garages are right in the middle of the paddock, close to the action and everyone else.nyc951 wrote:I think it's only $25 per day right? Well, I signed up for a garage and hope to meet you all.

I always rent one as well, and a hotel up the street if doing two days (even through I live 45 mins from the track). Those purchases just make a great event that much more enjoyable for me. It's nice to be in the shade during the day, and get to drive a short distance from the track for a shower and comfortable bed. Plus it's only a short trip back in the AM. - Paul G.

after prepping and hanging out without one, it is really a pleasure to have the garage bay. We gripe about nhms, but the garages and fluid shed really make a difference from, say, monticello, tremblant, etc.

Garage or not, you will always find a member who will be happy to store your gear in their space.
One correction (since you will be in my classroom), "DE" (driving experience) is for clubs who hosts "HPDE". COM is actually a club in which we encourage you to time yourself on track to check consistency, etc. so it's quite different from "DE", i'd rather call it a "RE" (Racing Experiece)
See you at the classroom and on track!
