NJMP Lightning

Post by bigjim » Thu Feb 24, 2011 6:11 pm

Our LXForums.com group has fallen on a bit of bad luck trying to book in at Thunderbolt. I am hoping you folks wouldn't mind a few more Whales on track and posted your event in our forum. Please voice concerns and comments! I am hoping we can fill any open spots in the event and halp pay for this event! I am NOT looking for special classes, just possibly a run group as the LXcars if there is enough interest. Thanks.

Sounds great. I don't think anyone would ever be concerned with someone bringing in new members. We encourage it and will welcome them. The more the merrier.

We rented Lightning in 09 and Thunderbolt in 10 (rain event start to finish, interesting experiance, got to try with traction and ABS off as my controller crapped the night before), and had 60 entrants each time with turn aways!

What is the top headcount for your events?

Jim, turn-aways? Why did you turn people away?

We vary head count by venue. Big tracks with lots of passing zones accommodate more cars on-track than smaller, tighter tracks. 25 cars on-track at WGI can be like being alone out thee, whereas 25 cars on-track at LimeRock is destined to be an endless train.

Our goal is to give every participant ample track time where they can run at their full potential, without being slowed-down or slowing-down anyone else.

I was a parcipitant in these events (had nothing to do with the organization). I am not sure of the reasons for turning folks away. With our folks mostly NEVER having been on track, I am pretty sure it had to do with not enough instructors to be fair to paying drivers getting out on track.
