Monticello full track open format Sept 7th. advanced only

Post by breakaway500 » Sat Aug 07, 2010 7:42 am

Received this email from NEQ today:

"Monticello full course, all Advanced only, NEQ “Test and Tune”, one day only event 07 Sept. '10

As many of you have heard, Monticello Motor Club (MMC) may not be open beyond 2010 to outside clubs. While we all hope that the rumors are not true, the Northeast Chapter of the Audi Club NA has secured one of the few remaining dates at Monticello for a “last run” event. In an effort to expand the number of type of events offered by the NEQ, this event will be an open track format open to advanced drivers only. This “all inclusive” event will include continental breakfast, a lunch voucher and a commemorative shirt. Plans are still in the works to offer professional driver coaching at very reasonable rates. So come join us and make some noise at Monticello one last time!

This event is ONLY open to:

1.)Anyone that has run in NEQ Black, (Instructors, Candidates, Ambassadors)

2.)Anyone that has solo'd in NEQ Red (excluding LimeRock where there were only 2 run groups)

3.)Any Instructor from another Audi Club Chapter (requires pre-approval from NEQ Chief Instructor)

4.)Anyone that has solo’d with another Club at MMC and you are in their top run group or an Instructor, with a MotorsportReg history supporting this (requires pre-approval from NEQ Chief Instructor).

For 3 & 4 - Priority will be given to current NEQ driver's, but if the event is not full 15 days prior, then your admission will be guaranteed.

ACNA membership is required for all participants as always. Audi ownership is not required for membership, just encouraged.

NEQ will provide track checkouts to drivers who qualify but have not run at MMC. We expect very little of this but can accommodate on a case by case basis.

If you are an Advanced student you need to pre- tech your car and present the NEQ form as per any NEQ event and there will be a Tech line the morning of the event. Instructors are exempt from tech inspection. Be aware you will run your car the equivalent of probably two normal DE events. Make sure your vehicle is up to it! Be sure you have adequate brake pads, tires, brake fluid and fuel, and verify that your car will pass our tech that morning. We have the track for seven hours and it is possible you can run it most of that. Bring a car that can handle a full day of advanced driving and pass inspection with this in mind.

We will run the first half hour open to high horsepower cars and the second half hour to low HP cars, or the reverse, depending upon sign-ups. After that the track will be open to any car, with a checkered flag every half hour for all drivers to at least enter the pits. Registration will be limited and all drivers can expect many hours of track time as you see fit. Passing will be on any straight, fully flagged and this is NOT A RACE.

NEQ would like to encourage everyone to use this event for instructor development. Run some laps in another driver’s right seat as instructor training. Take this opportunity to enhance your skills, tweak your car, meet and greet others, perhaps be coached at a professional level and raise the bar for yourself and future NEQ students you will have. This is a Graduate level driving day and potential farewell to MMC but is also to be used as advanced training. Make the most of it. We anticipate having Pro Coaches available, announcements forthcoming.

NEQ has worked hard this year to provide many events, on and off track, that appeal to all Audi drivers and Club members. We want to strongly encourage participation in Watkins Glen II and Mont Tremblant as our primary focus. Please check your calendars and register for those events asap. Your Club has many (of your) dollars invested in these remaining events and hope you give them top priority. They are classic NEQ events and not to be missed. This “Test and Tune” day is for the diehard driver who has hopefully already, or will soon, enroll in the main upcoming NEQ Club track days, and is looking for a last blast at MMC.

Priority will be given to NEQ members but our emphasis is on WG II and Tremblant. We will open this up to outside members as necessary to preserve the “All Advanced” atmosphere and fill the event.

Your Eventmasters are Dennis Cohan and Tom Mullane.

Chief Registrar (MSR guru) is Bruce Bradigan

Art Mayhew is the NEQ President

Steve Earley is the Chief Instructor

See the http://www.neqclub.org site for all contact info, ACNA registration and tech forms as well as WG II and Tremblant signup info.
