Any Com folks that are experienced welders?

I have a pair of Maximum Motorsport's full length subframe connectors installed on my 03 Cobra. Before I installed them, I used the areas of the subframe where connectors are welded as jacking points when swapping the R's on and off. Needless to say those areas are a bit deformed. This made welding the SFC's more difficult as there were more gaps to be filled.

Long story short, I did the best I could with it, and had a muffler shop put some extra bead on there to back up mine. I don't really feel like it is enough though. I'd like to obtain some flat 16 to 12 gage steel and have it welded down the sides of the SFC's and joining to the subframe anywhere that contact can be made.

Is there anyone here that might have material, and the welding gear to do this? I'd like to have it done before the April NHIS event.

I can pay with cash, with libations...whatever is necessary.

I can get you welded up, but the shop is on the South Shore. Welding the subframe connectors is one thing, welding the body will require the removal of everything inside the car near the affected area.

It really just amounts to welding additional side plates/gussets or tabs that would serve to reinforce the connection of the main tube of the SFC to the channel that comprizes the subframe. There wouldn't be any welding to the body or the floor pan directly.

I'm pulling the car out of storage in the middle of next month. I'll post again to this thread and see who has the time in the schedule to do the welding.

Troy, I have a mig at the shop and at home...but I do my own welding only usually. I know my welds are strong, but I'm not sure the "looks" of the welds would be equal to the fit and finish of your car. I also agree with Greg- be carefull of the heat you put near the floorboards...I have seen the carpet of a VW go up in flames when someone- not my shop- was welding on the floor.

There is a good quality welding and fabrication shop here in CT, owned by a COM member. If you want to come to the Hartford area for a real welder (not the variety that would ignite your car) I can give you the contact info. It isn't me, btw.

Thanks for the replies. I looked at some undercarriage shots and this will be a total slam dunk. As long as the stock is cut to the proper sizes there shouldn't be a need to put very much heat into the floor boards.

I getting the shop up and going this weekend. I'm limited to material but might have enough for what you need to do.
