Hey Everyone,
My name is David and I have been contemplating coming to one of the events for a while now. I am planning on coming to the September event this year and joining the club. I do have a question if you wouldn't mind answering. I searched some of the other posts so hopefully I don't repeat anyone.
I drive an 08 Civic Si coupe, all stock. I use this for work and my concern is what are the chances of a crash into a wall (or anything else) that completely totals my car? From looking at the pictures it seems like this is unlikely given the layout of the track but if anyone has any info on how often it happens (if ever) I would appreciate it. I am sure this is very rare but if I lost my car I would be real screwed for work.
I am currently in the process of making sure my car will be ready for the September event, studying the rule book etc. Really looking forward to learning how to drive on a course.
Thanks for any info everyone and I look forward to meeting you in the Fall.
-David

Re: Rookie Questions
Welcome to the club David.
We seldom see a car hit the wall, most are just spins but remember when driving you are the "pilot in command" (as they say in airplane talk) So what happens to the car is really up to you. I have been driving my Mustang for 6 years and have never been off track with it. Good luck and have fun.

Re: Rookie Questions
You will be driving with an instructor in the right seat and he will keep you well within your driving limits-- very safe for newbies. Chances of any accident as a student are extremely low. Also keep in mind that even when you grow up to have your COM license and are a real hot shoe there is no passing in corners and passing requires a point-bye. So we never have any car to car contact.

Re: Rookie Questions
Hey David,
My wife and I were rookies last season as well. We've had a great experience in an old, modified TR6. Your stock Honda is probably more competent!
We've both been driving this season, and the instructors have been patient, communicative, and very supportive. A number of the members have really supported us - even sharing gas when we ran out at Tremblant! The point-by system works really well and you get used to if fast. The other thing I learned as a rookie is that the track is really much, much larger than the road - there's almost always someplace to drive to, and at your speeds, it will be nearly impossible to run off the track.
Definitely come out - I feel safer on the track than on Rte 128 at rush hour!!
And anything the rest of this list says about Bruce, really he's a great guy and mentored us well....no matter WHAT they say

Re: Rookie Questions
Thanks for the responses everyone. I have a better idea of what to expect. I would love to attend the August event for a ride along but I am camping down in the cape that weekend (praying for no rain.)
