24 Hours of LeMons!! LOOKING FOR RACERS IN CT, NY, MA!

Post by kbradsmith » Tue Apr 21, 2009 6:34 pm

The 24 Hours of LeMons, the national endurance racing series for $500 cars, makes its only '09 New England stop on 11-12 July at Stafford Speedway in Connecticut. Over two days of racing, teams take on exploding gaskets, fried alternators, and wild on-track action in order to take home glorious cash prizes—paid out in canvas sacks of nickels. Last year, a rusty Mazda took home the top prize--this year, it could be you!

Hopeful and/or desperate teams need to file their online applications by midnight Saturday, May 2nd. Accepted teams will be notified the following Monday; rejected teams should feel a wave of relief around Tuesday. http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/registration/

Entry forms, prices, photos and rules can all be found on http://www.24hoursoflemons.com. For those who would rather witness the spectacle from a safe distance--and we can't blame you if you do--all-access pit passes can also be found at http://www.24hoursoflemons.com. We'll see you there!

I'm seriously considering this. I've been intrigued since I first read about it in Car & Driver a while back.
The RX7 cost me exactly $500 when I bought it. If I reinstalled the original struts and sway bars, it would qualify.
I need a team...Who's wants in? This isn't a commitment yet, just putting feelers out.

They can crush your car for no reason. And some other bizzare rules... Otherwise,I'd do it. :P

Thanks Mick. Ryan, they specifically mention a "No whiners" rule, so we'd have to get around that somehow.
