Some crazy in the Caribbean bought an old Subaru WRC car. Stripped it down to the shell and rebuilt it. Just thought I'd share.

Actually he is not so much of an old crazy...Rallying is huge in the Caribbean, and the guy who bought this car is one of winningest drivers in the region. Other Subie WRC they cite as main competition in that forum thread is driven by another guys from Barbados but maintained by a ex-Prodrive works mechanic (I am from Jamaica but used to live in Barbados and know a couple of these guys from my time there). Check this site for the main tarmac rally in the region is in Barbados every June. http://www.barbadosrallycarnival.com/rallycarnival/
The rally wknd itself is fun as hell - none stop rum drinking (spectators only of course ). Jamaica has the big gravel rally in December.
The turbo AWDs are common in Caribbean motorsport generally. For example, a jamaican guy bought the AMS TA! Time Attack Mitsu Evolution to circuit race. Evos (and WRXs to a lesser extent) are popular on the road too. The joke is that we have the highest number of Evos in the world, per capita.
