towing

Post by 962porsche » Sun Oct 26, 2008 6:33 pm

as most of the peaple know how were at NHIS on sunday . i needed my car towed back to CT. after paying a tow bill of 995.00 .its very painful in the sitting poisson . its just not worth not having a tow rig your self . now my dilemma is should i run next weekend ? on saturday i had a grate day at the track . nate my instructor whom i have a lot of respect for as a driver and instructor. we got my speed up and fine tuned my driving . it was just one of thous good days at the track . now stould i run next week or not ? becouse of time i cant even look at my car for the next 2 weeks . so i would have to take one of my other cars . and that one would have to be the honda delsol . and drive it up to NH. then back home . should i run next week ?????

We saw you leaving in the tow rig and we wondered why you had not taken some of the options offered. I for one would have loaned you my trailer if you had no options left. Note COM people are like that, we help each other out.
It would be great to see you here next week! So please consider coming!

at the time it was asked i didnt have a running car to drive home. the latter part of the day was a different story, i would have let you use my truck and trailer.
need parts for your trailer, welding repairs/fabrication (sorry cant do aluminum), tires mounted and balanced, feel free to email/pm me. i am located a little west of nashua. ted

As you experienced on the trip from the roadside to the track, it is not likely that my truck and trailer would have made the trip to CT and back without some sort of repair.

Sorry you ended up paying for the transport home. There are usually other options, especially at a home event.

Ouch. Sorry about the tow bill!

As long as the Del Sol is mechanically sound (working brakes, decent tread on the tires), you should be fine! We've had several run with us before. :)

For years I drove my car to and from events. 500 miles to Mosport, 500+ miles on track, 500 miles back home, all in the span of 4 days. Arrive home, wash, change oil, check brakes, done. :)

AAA Plus is worth the annual 75 bucks if you are driving to events. You get 100 miles towing free on your own card... if you have buddies that are also members, that helps too in getting you home

even if it wouldn't have gotten you all the way home, the remaining per mile costs still would be a lot less.

If you have a trailer, could you rent/borrow a tow vehicle?

If you elect to drive the Delsol and it breaks,I'll tow you back to CT for 1/2 price. <---maybe that should be
It's not what you drive, it's how you drive. "Lap times matter"
