COM Members at the 12 Hours at Summit Point

Post by bhoss » Mon Jun 16, 2008 2:17 pm

COM was well represented at the SCCA 12 Hours at the Point last weekend with three all COM teams.

Matt Miscoe, Chris Tier and David Foote in their #23 ITE Mazda Miata were 5th overall and second in class (one lap behind the leader - a Spec Racer Ford). These guys lead a good portion of the race until a late pit stop and a baulky rear wheel bearing slowed them down in the last 1/2 hour of the race. Dan Malek, Carl and Wendy Fossum held down the pit crew duties.

Will Martins, Marc Martin and Mark Wheatley in their #54 ITA Mazda Miata were 9th overall and first in class. Bad timing with the pace car for the two black flag weather stopages put us back a couple of laps. Gordon Andrade, Bill Hosselbarth and Janice Smith held down the pit crew duties.

Bill Miscoe and his Iron Dragon Team also put in a good drive.

A good time was had by all at a great track.

Do they run the main track at the 12 hr. event?

Yup, main track for the enduro. Our team did 352 laps in 12 hours , the overall winner did 360.

We had a great time and learned a lot. Great job guys, Well Done!

It was an awesome event. I learned a ton and had a great time.
Sharing pit space with Chris/Matt/Dave and their crew Dan/Chris A/Carl/Wendy, and the rest of the #23 team was awesome. Those guys really know how to pull off a pitstop. Very impressive! :salute:

Marc W/Marc M/Janice S/Gordon/Bill H were awesome teammates & crew. So much fun!!

The true measure of a team is how well it works together and overcomes adversity. Between the weather and some other issues, there was plenty of adversity to go around, all of which was handled with grace and a smile by both teams.

Being a part of the event was great, but it is the COM friends involved that make it worth attending.

Waive that COMSCC flag high, boys & girls!

Congrats to all on a what sounds like a great time and a good finishing place. Is a write up for the "Drift" coming so we can live vicariously through you Real Racers?

Gosh.. that sounds like F-U-N... you guys are tempting me to get Miataer...
Congratulations to ALL! =D>

First things first... I was suggested I should run in the vintage events, the one recently at Loudon and the one to come at WGI... then we'll see. Need full cage, fuel cell, fire extinguisher... help?

Will, if you could send me a little race report (and maybe a picture?) on the event I'd like to put it up on our shop site with a blurb about the tune.

Hey Alex,

I'll send something out. Thanks for your help on Wednesday, Matt did a great job, as usual. Now if only we could get him to a COM event, especially one of the away events, I'm thinking he'd be hooked. :)
