We have looked into it, the pricing plan is very expensive.

I think at least on par with Lime Rock. Tom gathered some info, so perhaps he has more to share.

As for Lime Rock, I think you are right. From what I've heard, Lime Rock is offering all clubs (that are similar to COM) 1/2 of the track time they had in 2007.

AMAZINGLY, Lime Rock is offering 1/2 days. So in other words, COM ran LRP for 2 full days in 2007. In 2008, we get offered 2 HALF days.

How on earth is any club supposed to organize a 1/2 day event? Who in their right mind would pay all of the travel and other event expenses, for either 9-1 OR 1-5? That can't possibly work for the majority of organizations that run at LRP.

Oh, and P.S., LRP has increased rates by 2.5% for 2008.

will, you are looking at it all wrong... lrp decreased their rates by roughly 50% :)

I looked into T Bolt for Patroon BMWCCA --$37000 for a Weekend--inc Friday. That was for Lightning ( I guess they are not having one big track right away --but the 2 smaller ones. )

Rumors about LRP are true.

You can take a 1/2 day ( morning or afternoon) --or split the day and alternate run groups with "the club"---We are going to experiment with LRP next year as most of our participants do not want to travel.

We did take a weekend at Calabogie in August --in case anyone wants to go--AND hopefully it does not conflict with a COM date ( 8/23 & 8/24 BTW)
also--Willing to share the weekend too...........

It will really be interesting to see if LRP survives.

Rates are on the high side, as Will and DJ said.

They have structured their schedule and rates to where if you want both weekend days, you have to take a Friday or Monday also. The lowest rates we can get are two days midweek, and cost even for that is same or higher than what LRP cost us this year.

Rest assured we're investigating this track and other options.

My suggestion is Summit and/or Thunderbolt if the same price as Lime Rock has been. Then save $10,000 on trophies via the suggestion at the the last BOD meeting: 1st place trophies only and generic wall plaques that say something like "COM SCC - 2nd Place" Winner of plaque can then have it engraved with the track and date info. Lots of trophies and $$ going to waste due to smaller number of class participants than planned for based on registration numbers.

LRP from it's inception has always been closely associated with the amateur racing community and I find it unfortunate that LRP managment is turning it's back on the track's history and major constituency. It will be interesting to see whether LRP has the same attitude toward SCCA Club Racing as it has developed toward the marque clubs.

I have spoken with a few SCCA-NER flaggers, including myself, who will not support pro races (IMSA, ALMS) and non-SCCA events (Vintage Festival) if LRP gives SCCA dates away to Skippy's exclusive Club. My personal belief is that the attractiveness of LRP as a venue for pro events comes largely from the history/nostalgia factor rather than a sense that this is a great track that the pros really want to drive (LRP is to IMSA what Martinsville is to NASCAR- a short track). Once the historical cache of LRP dissappears, the pro events will too.

Thanks for the info and.... wow. Frankly, i would not miss LRP being on a COM schedule if it was in the action for cost containment. Same with fewer trophies. FYI: cost containment is why the red car was sold so can understand that as expenses rise one needs to make the appropriate choices.

Sadly, two factors keep me from doing more with Palmer. If the American economy was not so questionable plus wife and i are debating moving to Europe (around Provence or Tuscany) depending on economy and presidential election outcome.

It would help if we could boost "away" attendance. In 2006 we ran Mosport twice, which for everyone that attended, was AWESOME. Mosport is by far the most affordable track we rent, and is also my personal favorite and I'd assume top 2-3 for the majority of members who have run there.
