Remember your first....
...track car. You know, the one that 'popped your cherry' so to speak. The one that showed you the way, and perhaps, helped save you in times when personal talent may have come up a bit short. As seat time grew and your skillset accordingly, perhaps you eventually outgrew her and your wanting eyes found a new track lover. Remember those countless days of mechanical fixing, and perhaps modding plus the joys she brought about in your life?
Eventually you sold her for something faster and perhaps more sexy, more agile...
The reason for this post is my first love appears to be sold and will be leaving here in about 2 weeks. Am curious how other COMSCC'ers felt when they saw their first track car leave for the last time. Please post some of the good, and perhaps less than perfect, moments with your first car as you grew as a track driver.

I am sure you'll have nothing but fond memories.
My 1st was a VW Bettle 1500 cc that i raced in Interlagos, Brazil. Gee this week is a final F-1 race at Interlagos, I'll miss it to be with you guys.
Anyway sold it to my sister when I went to study in Montreal. Then raced a kart for a couple of years (WKA in New England) and now the Alfa. Will stay with the Alfa. Thought about getting a souped up VW but Alfa is my thing. Waiting for the new Alfa to come to the USAand who knows I upgrade this to give ST-4 boys a run for their $ or even Mike in his M3 in the SPC class ... Stay tuned!!!

This is the past, crazy ideas. Our team name was "Street Racing Team".
If we apply this name to it's true meaning today, we'd be in jail...
The VW Beetle is a 1500cc stock with lowered rear suspension and a roll bar. Both cars were identical in prep. Smetimes up to 65 cars were on the track.
Next to me is my racing friend Bobby Cox (yes Brazilian!) he made his way up to Formula Super Vee racing in Brazil. Notice the Saint-Tropez style bell bottoms pants and all, the real stuff!
The kart was actually a 4-stroke Briggs & Stratton running on ethanol. It gave about 8.5 HP in all but at the end of turn 4 at NHIS going on reverse chicane (this is the WKA track there, turns 3 and 4 and back thru the North Chicane) one could be doing about 58-62 mph on this thing...
This picture it taken at Beechridge (South Portland, ME)

Awesome pics Stephan. The '74 pics with the VW's are awesome. I hope they are blown-up and hanging in the walls of your garage. :thumbleft:
Hmmmm....long hair and bell bottoms. Are you sure you've never owned a Miata?
My first track car was my daily-driver Miata. It didn't take me long to figure out that I'd be happier in a dedicated car (another Miata). I still have the original Miata.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Well, kinda yes kinda no. Some of these new karts are STAGGERING fast plus they are so easy to maintain and inexpensive too!DanDarcy wrote:Steve You are driving as fast modern kart NOW
Am already planning the next track toy and can either go kart... or Radical. i think the Radical is gaining ground for possible 2009 entry as she is a closed wheel car so can take part in more DE events plus can seat two to tote the wife and friends at some events. It will also allow taking a driving coach on track to help with brake points, lines, etc and the engine/tranny is relatively easy/cheap to source.
