Tremblant Hot Shoes

Post by Don P » Wed Jul 11, 2007 9:21 am

For those going to MtT - here's something to shoot for. Best qualifying time (like our tt) for the 7/1 Champ Car race was 1m 16.776s WITH the chicane.

Who can come close !! ??

Clearly the gauntlet is thrown down. Will Craig and his Vee rise to the challenge? ;)

Scott closes on the house the 31st and Wendy and I are painting and ripping out carpet that week.

But everything looks good for August COMSCC and Oct SCCA schools at WGI and SP.

Andrew - we'll be sure to pack you a sleeping bag for the schools.

Or, as Bruce kept saying last year as my Instructor: Faster! Faster! Let's see a 1:15 (oh, perhaps he was saying 2:15?)

I am just going to be happy if I get to drive my car for longer than 1:16 this time!

I recall at the annual Vintage Fest 2 yrs ago, Duncan Dayton turned a 1:19 in Jacques Villeneuve's 95 Champ Car (no chicane).
It looked unbelievably fast to me.

So, when I strolled in during qualifying 2 weeks ago and timed them circulating in the 1:16s, I was impressed, but not all that surprised. When I made my way over to the top of #2 however, and saw that they were actually detouring through the chicane, I just couldn't believe it.

Of course this soon gave way to disappointment that they had castrated the track's signature corner. I still recall Mark Donahue blasting through it in the 917-30KL, so why couldn't these guys?
Oh well..I guess safety is the important thing, but taking #2 out of MT, is like doing away with Eau Rouge at Spa. I guess its preferred to bounce off walls on city courses (or was that railroad tracks in San Jose?).

ok...finished rant :|

Well there's your problem! You're parked on track. It's the vertical pedal on the right, step on it all the way and leave it there. ;)
