The on-line registration is open.
Re: Mosport - June 11 and 12
So whos going? Despite my self imposed restriciton on number of events this year as I am trying to focus on building my car, I find it hard not to sign up for MOsport as its normally open track on an amazing track.....Mark Swinehart wrote:The on-line registration is open.
Whats the chances of another 500 track miles in 2 days event?

I'm in too. Will already be in Montreal for the F-1 Grand Prix so will be already 1/2 way up.
Questions:
1) Track info and set up: air? electrical outlets? garages?
2) Gas availability on or near track?
3) Hotel availability? Who normally goes where and at what price?
Yeh, yeh, I can check on COM's "track information" but much better from the horse's mouth for those who already been there, done that...

Good news Haydn! The track updated the restrooms/showers and built a much bigger set of restrooms/showers in the building behind the cafe. Not sure they were up and running for the our first Mosport event last year, but they were done for our 2nd. Much nicer than before. On to the other stuff...StephanAlfa wrote:I'm in too. 1) No compressed air (plenty au naturale!), limited electrical, no garages. The paddock area is paved, and there is usually plenty of space.
2) Gas is available at the track. Kind of expensive, but not "crazy expensive" like some tracks. Gas in Canada is typically more than US prices anyway. If you cross the boarder with full gas jugs, you are expected to (told to) stop and pay the gas tax.
3) I usually stay at the Howard Johnson's in Bowmanville.
Questions you didn't ask:
A) There is food at the track. Similar to the Lime Rock setup, window service and a few picnic benches.
B) If past years are an indication, there will be TONS of track time.
C) If you like the Glen, you'll love Mosport. If you like NHIS, you'll love Mosport. If you like Summit, you'll love Mosport. If you like Tremblant, you'll love Mosport. If you hate any and all of those tracks, you'll still love Mosport.
D) If you like to picnic / BBQ, Mosport would be a good place for that.
E) Don't follow Jack Rosen into turn 2. (Kidding!)
F) Travel time is similar to going to Summit, except that the ride is a bit more fun/pretty, and the time goes by quicker.
G) There have been informal dinners in the past, usually at East Side Mario's in Bowmanville. Again, nothing formal, but you can usually catch a good group of COM-folk there each night.
Personally, I think this is the most fun, most rewarding, and highest track-time event we have each season. It is amazing that we don't even come close to selling out.

Great place to eat good brew
Last year a few of us ate at the Villiage Inn Irish Pub located at 99 Kings Hwy. in Bowmanville. They have room on the second floor for 50? people. The food is good and resonably priced. Great service and a good beer selection. The owner was very open to have a bunch of gearheads stop in for a good time. Web site www.thevillage-inn.com Craig H.
