Mazda Strikes Again!
As Bruce and many others here have said ABS is bad on track
Although many people can go for years without having any problem whatsoever, in certain situations it can be disastrous.
When my brother spun at Lime Rock coming onto the straight he went both feet in, without ABS he would have stayed on the pavement, you could see by his skid Marks (no pun) that the car dragged him back to the inside of the track into the tires. Thankfully he was fine and the car looks much cooler now, but not a good experience.
That being said I have run the car without ABS and just as Dan B. was inquiring, the bias was totally off. Mark Swinehart stopped me after a run group and asked me what the hell was going on I was locking rear wheels coming into every corner. Obviously he was upset because he is not used to running with anyone causing more tire smoke than himself.

Well, this thread went south in a hurry. I guess that the success enjoyed the Mazda's (2 of the top ten picks for 2007) must sour some people. All of a sudden Mazdas have serious brake problems. Jeeez, don't tell the writers and testers that scored the cars! The comments started about the brakes should have had their own thread, a little common courtesy on forums should have told the poster that.

I have to agree with you Sam. Mazdas are certainly not the only cars with ABS, blah, blah, blah. I just wish that Subaru was as on top of supporting non-rally competitors as Mazda clearly is

Amen to that. There are plenty of "Mazda guys" who like Subies and plenty of other cars too. I love Mazda. My wife has a Mazda3 which we love, I had a '90 RX-7 convertible (before it blew a couple of apex seals). If they made a 2.3 turbo RX-8, that's what I'd have bought instead of the S2000.
The ABS discussion, as far as I'm concerned, isn't brand-specific. I wish my S2000 didn't have it. We specifically got my wife's car with no ABS. It seems to me that the risks (computer not understanding what's really happening, able to take braking control away from the driver) outweigh the benefits (with ABS, you have the accident with the brakes not locked instead of with the brakes locked).
The idea that computer-controlled valving should have override authority over a drivers command at the pedal is absurd to me. You've taken an inherently reliable system and added failure modes and made it potentially unreliable. Numerous on- and off-track incidents of ABS acting goofy.
