Race gas

Post by dinoracer » Thu Aug 23, 2007 9:30 pm

I think we were talking on this forum about race gas availability, don't remember where

Was just at Haffners in Hudson NH, they have 110 octane leaded race gas "for off highway use only" at $ 5.99 a gallon

I got 110 octane (leaded) at the Gulf Station near NHIS at $7.50/gallon
Some SUNOCO stations sell unleaded high octane. The ones I had access to near Nashua have revamped their station and are gone so I guess one needs to call and inquire

I am only aware of the 103 octane unleaded manufactured by BP. I can connect you with a local person who handles it. Special order only!

$5.99/gallon is a great price. I've been paying $7.50 or so a gallon for it in CT. We should have you fill up a 55 gallon drum and bring it to the track.

I run VP Foel unleaded 100 octane. NASCAR runs unleaded now.

No cats in the exhaust system of the old Alfa?

By the way, I meant to say was BP makes the highest octane automotive unleaded, at 103 octane.

Hey, that's not far form Mosport.
For those unleaded guy you can arrange for shipment to the 1st Canadian event (Calabogie) and leftover can be brought back with you (safely) .
Transport class 3 is quite high (lowest rate is 9, highest is 1) but when carrying as personal item it's your ticket (i.e.: not "in commerce).
Just observe proper safety cautions.

Ooooops leave it to our Northern neighbors!
Stefan, I am at a loss as to your need for race fuels. Maybe the 98 octane, but 114?

they do have lower than 114 (explore the link)...that was in response to BP having the highest at 103

...also, they have a USA distributor (explore the link)...just in case anyone south of the border decides to become a boost junkie, or perhaps shave their head a little

It mixes nicely with pump gas if a little added protection is desired. For anyone running carbs (still), its oxygenated for a little extra oomph

I use a mix of some high (leaded :P ) octane to help cool the engine.
Pick this tip from ??? at COM. Indeed on a 5 gal I put 1 gal 110 and the rest 93 and the engine runs better by some 15 degrees F on hot days.
Other than that I am just wasting money

karens convience store in brookline, nh carries unleaded and leaded race fuels.

also a point of intrest, right now the highest octane unleaded is 104 made by sunoco. shell will be releasing their NEW race fuel. up to this point shell has not made any race fuels. i kind of know a guy now working for shell and helping to develop the fuel, he used to work for powermist  . the new fuel is rhumored to be in the 107-108 octane for unleaded

ted
need parts for your trailer, welding repairs/fabrication (sorry cant do aluminum), tires mounted and balanced, feel free to email/pm me. i am located a little west of nashua. ted
