99-01 911 Carrera on the track or 01-03 Z06
The C6 is also a large improvement over the C5 Z06, to the tune of 1-2 seconds a lap. Apparently the low to mid range power is quite a bit better. I haven't been to a National Club Race this year where the C6 hasn't won. Then again, I also guess it helps to be Buttermore or Aquilante who are fantastic drivers and have great development.

Ya you're probably right there. John has the z51 suspension upgrade.tju-vette wrote:You may have to add the Z51 package to a base C6 to equal the C5Z06, can't say for sure however. I only wish those were the kinds of decisions I had to make.Subw00er wrote:I think the idea behind the base c6 was to make it as good as the c5 z06, so they must be close. IMO the c5z06 is a much more raw and driver-oriented car and the reason I didnt "upgrade." The base c6 feels soft, and sedated to me although I know its almost as fast. If I recall correctly, I thinke c5 z06 is just a hair faster to 60.

I have never driven a late model 911 on the track but I have beaten the everloving crap out of my Z51 C5 coupe. I only run one or two roadcourses a year but I autocross the car at Devens a lot, I drag race it and it is my daily driver. I just turned 164,000 on it and other than clutch/brakes tires I really haven't had to do anything major to it.
Parts are readily available everywhere and are reasonably priced.
