We were informed by the NHIS officials that they are going to allow COMSCC to open event registration Sunday (August 19) night from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Participants must register with COMSCC prior to entering the track. i.e. camping or dropping off any equipment.
Do not enter the garages until you have been assigned a specific garage. Garage rentals can be purchased Sunday night during registration. Garage rentals will also be available Monday and Tuesday mornings during registration (7:00 - 8:00 AM) until all the available spaces are rented. Garage rental costs remain the same as previous events - $50 per day with ample space for two cars.

I'm surprised that we are running chicane/chicane. With the warm weather, why can't we run North or South oval configurations?

NHIS has decided that unless all cars in the event are running cages and fuel cells, chicane-chicane is it. I can assure you Andrew has pled our case to track management, to no avail.

Unfortunately, it is true.
We bring this up at the board meeting all of the time. Our hands are tied, as NHIS has imposed the same restriction on all clubs/organizations.
I know Andrew has tried to work it out with NHIS several times, but we've never seen even a glimmer of hope.

I'd love to run North Chicane - South Oval. North Oval is more dangerous than most people realize.
NHIS claims their insurance is the reason for the forced chicane-chicane config. They claim even the SCCA isn't above restriction unless they specifically request the south oval; and then there's some safety check SCCA will do on all cars as a result.

I think the "dangerous" part of the North Oval config is the extra speed that needs to be scrubbed off to make it from the exit of 10 and onto the north oval. Seems everytime I felt I hit the exit of 10 "right", I'd be at the edge of the curbing, run over a little dirt patch, and leave a puff of dust in the air. A little wide at exit, and I'd leave a clump of dirt in my seat. At least I think it was dirt.
If I recall correctly, in my Miata, the speed into T1 is not that much greater, but "fast" cars could be a different story.

That's not entirely true, I am not sure why they told you that. Every SCCA event I have driven at NHIS this year has used the oval and the inspection process is always the same. SCCA generally just checks that you have an "SCCA Club" sticker on your helmet and sends you off, no inspection every event, as this is what annual tech is for. NHIS rules
I'm sure that NHIS is making the motorcycles run with govenors to keep their speed below 60mph. I heard that the bicycles that run on thurs nights have to wear full leathers. Our risk factor is 1/10th that of SCCA, with crashes being rare. Because of the poor track design of turn 3, there is almost always a crash at the start of every race. What a bunch of crap!!!

Also what about a cookout of banquet ?
I bring my small grill anyway , I have to cook lunch . At the last NHIS we ended up cooking 5# of hamberg and 5# of hog dogs for lunch. IF the club isn't doing anything , contact me and bring something to grill and we'll have a great time Raj, you can even bring a veggie burger and we'll cook it up
