Have not driven VIR or Pocono. From what I've heard about these tracks, I'd assume Pocono would be at the bottom of my list, and VIR very close to the top (if not the top).
Of the tracks COM has been to, I'd rank:
Mickey, see you at NHIS?

Pocono really sucks. But I'll be running a double National SCCA race there next weekend- money involved.
VIR is great- especially if you run the 4.1 mile Grande course.
Glen is fast balls circuit. Calabogie is wonderful due to its length and nicley coupled multiple turns.
Road America, 4.0 miles- a different league- imagine THREE straights where you get over 120 mph (Miata excepted).

my 2 cents.. VIR >WGI
I think VIR is so much more fun than WGI. dont get me wrong, I love the glen, but there is just so much more going on running the full course, and way more if you run the grand. VIR is a lot like Calabogie, but faster! You think you get lost at Calabogie, the grand course would top that!
*Ive only run the full course, but from the video of the grand Im still lost for even having been there
I hit 147+ on both the front and back straights at VIR !! I dont dare look at the speedo just before I hit the brakes.
I know that Mazda Drivers has an even there soon, and I think Sept is mostly booked for National events. I seemed to have drummed up some interest to head back there in Oct with a few folks. Micky, Ill keep you posted if youre interested too.

I would be interested. I'm buying new shocks and getting a stiffner front end put in (going 600 -> 750 lbs/in), so money might be tight, but you never know.
Here's what DJ gathered for Sept-ish events (including Miata Drivers):
Boston BMWCCA at NHIS Friday the 21st of Sept
NASA at pocono Sept 29/30th (Sat/Sun)
Audi Club at Mt Temblant Sept 29/30
Boston BMWCCA at WGI Sept 26/27 ( wed /Thurs)
Mazda Club at VIR (full course) Sept 1-2 (labor day weekend)
NJ BMWCCA at Shenadoah / Summit pt Sept 22/23 ( weekend)
GVC BMWCCA at WGI 28-30 ( weekend)

I'll comment to those I've been. NO particular order but comments on each track and reason for preference (or not):
Interlagos, Sao Paulo Brazil = old version, when I raced VW beetles there - awesome
NHIS (any configuration) = excellent because it is a technically challenged track. Get it there you get it everywhere. Also within 40 minutes from home
Mosport = a blast, no doubt
Calabogie = 20 turns to keep you busy and lots of high speed turns, excellent new addition to our roster
Watkins Glen - one of my favourites: great turns, legendary
Mont Tremblant - another one of my favourites, majestic track
Lime Rock - least favourite. Once you get it it's boring.

I guess I'll leave N'burgring out of the equation - it was long ago and I ran many laps with an EMPI equipped, Judson supercharged VW bug, and a few laps with my Turbo Corvair Corsa. Fun!
So here is my like it list:
Mosport (can you say "T2 taken balls out is worth 3 secs"?)
WGI (WOT T2 to the bus stop)
Tremblant (The 1-2-3 combo - pucker up!!)
NHIS (I just have to brake less!)
Calabogie (Turn ? goes left - or was it right?)
LRP (Sneaky little devil!)

Thanks Will. I can't make it to NHIS on 8/20-21.. I know it's very sad. I am heading to Salt Lake City for a work related conference on the exact same dates... blah for being the boss.WillM wrote:Have not driven VIR or Pocono. One of the best parts about COM? There is no need to "choose"!

VIR might happen. Again, it's about the $$, I need new tires, I need to get real race shocks, one day a roll cage, real seats and harnesses might come in handy too.
