MOSPORT this past Monday and Tuesday

Post by StephanAlfa » Wed Jun 13, 2007 1:42 pm

Another awesome "Canadian track event", wow!
I have never been there before and I must say it's become another one of my favourites together with Mont Tremblant, Calabogie, Watkins Glen and NHIS (yes NHIS, very technical so if you get it you get it).
8) Thanks again to organizers for putting yet another great event.
Special thanks to Carl for letting me follow him (for as long as I could) and Les for having the cojones for sitting with me in the car while I attempted to learn the line, the track, turns 1, 2 and 4 w/o messing it up.
On the ride back Dan, Allison and I were at a service station and we met up with a couple of guys coming from the Porsche event at the Glen. The y immediately recognized the "COM" guys (and the Alfa) and we had a nice chat too!
COM is truly great!

Mosport was a ton of fun! This was the first time my wife joined me and she really seemed to enjoy the event. The car worked well for two days without any substantial repair, a new record. :D Looking forward to NHIS!

I was driving the black and red miata from the Porsche Glen event. It was fun meeting up and I hope every one made it home safe.

Les, thanks again for aligning my car + helping me out with the few issues the car had and teching it!

I hope to run with you guys in the future, but when my dad gives me an event for my birthday I’m not too picky about who's running it.

Yup a truly fabulous event!

I am a little dissapointed that I 'only' managed to get 480 track miles in this year ;)

The miata behaved flawlesly as usual and I found a bit more (1 second) 'bottle' than last time.

What an amazing track! I am still on the fence as to whether Mosport or Tremblant is my favorite. I will reserve judgement until after Tremblant this year.

It was really fabulous to see everyone again, and amazing to see how much people had improved since 2005 Mosport.

My best laptime improved by 1 second over my last visit to Mosport with no changes to the car so I am psyched about that (1:46.5), or I was until I looked up track records and found Audi ALMS at 1:06  1:06 - holy cow.

I shot some fabulous in car video and will post some up this weekend online for you all to see.

Cheers again for a great event.

Yeah, yeah, I saw that ... both feet were in. Check the brake lights in one of the photos. This strip should be used for classroom sessions 8)
I went in too fast on 5a and was either go straight to the gravel or hook for 5b ... well I spun... kept it on the track thought :D  :thumbleft:
Worse still during the TT I blew that corner all together because I came flying down from turn 4 on 5th gear and when I downshifted to 3rd after 5a I realized the car was in neutral instead ... lost precious time there on my supposedly faster lap
Previously during the practice sessions Robert (Ready) called me a "madman" I mean HE is the one with the track record and he call ME a madman?
All in all I had a blast, from the time I left the house and met up with the Sam, Tom, Mark, Aric and caravaned to the track to coming back home and meeting up with others (as I mentioned above).

I just got Robert Ready's DVD that he filmed Mark (Bradshaw), Peter and I.
Thanks!, Great shots ...tons of body roll  8)
Some footage could be used for classroom sessions ...
Also Mark: you need to fasten you rear muffler and tail pipe, it's going all over the place

I also got my copy. Thanks a ton! that is awsome footage. Now I understand why Stephan is the madman. That is some amazing body roll and four wheel drift. I have a whole new respect for that alpha.
Robert, one of these days I'll get my camera working so we can get some footage of you in there, if you let me keep up :)
