Wanted: ride share for Calabogie

Post by alisonnic » Tue May 22, 2007 9:17 am

I'm looking for someone willing to share their car at the COM event at Calabogie. I'm willing to chip in up to $400 toward expenses (fuel, tires, brakes, general wear and tear, whatever) if I can run your car both days. (If you have a really killer car, my contribution is negotiable!)

I'm an instructor, so I can run in sessions that don't conflict with yours. You won't have to give up any track time. You can ride with me in the sessions I drive, which should help you learn the track quicker.

I do have one student; she's in run group 3. If you're in a different run group I'd be glad to ride with you and give you suggestions, assuming you haven't already mastered your car and the track so well that I would be learning from you instead! On the second day I can ride with you in either session if you like.

I can get myself there; I just need a car to share so I can get some track time.

Oh yes. If I ever get my Cobra on the track again, you'll be among the first in line for a ride!

Hi I sent you a PM. Your welcome to drive the 318ti with me but after you drive it you might decide to get one instead of finishing the cobra!

Mark, thanks! I got your PM.

I'm looking forward to driving your 318ti! I have many fond memories of BMW's. Back when I was young and rash I convinced my dad to buy a spanking new BMW 1600-2 (same as a 2002 but with smaller engine) and I had a lot of fun with that car.

Involuntarily added to the coffers of a few local townships, too, after their constabulary took exception to my testing the car's advertised cruising speed of 96 MPH...

OK, Alison, I designate you as Mark's instructor- not in group3 quick check. He should have a license already.

Ok, Bruce, sounds good. I've already got a group 3 student but I can ride with Mark in his own group.

As Mark's last instructor- I can say he is ready for a license, but we talked and decided that after the LRP incident and given the fact that his next event was going to be a new track to him (I thought that was going to be Tremblent) and he would have requested an instructor- it took the heat off me to not sign him off. Keep it smooth and don't crinkle up any more body work and you're home free Mark. Good luck.

Thanks Scott, Calabogie looked like too much fun to resist. Ive got to drive the car home so I'll be keeping it out of the tires.

Gary, if you play your cards right you might be able to drive some laps in my car in return for letting me drive that open wheeler. :D

For some reason I think the G-forces will be considerately different.

Thanks for the info, Scott! Should be a great event. I'm really looking forward to it!

PS. The only reason Gary doesn't want to let me drive the Reynard is he's afraid I'll be faster than him!
