Location in MA or NH for Auto-X event

Post by StephanAlfa » Wed May 16, 2007 11:51 am

Hi:
I am looking for a place for the Alfa Club to run an Auto-X event.

The date is preferably June 17th or sometime in June.

NHIS, Devens and Nashoba are booked.

Any of you know an area that will take Auto-X event?
Let me know.
Tks!

The two prime areas are Devens and NHIS. There are two lots at NHIS, the lower lot across from the registration area, and a smaller lot on top of the hill on the right side, just beyond the tunnel entrance. You might want to check to see if that lot is available. This lot is small, but you can be creative with some course designs. I ran the NH, BMW events on that lot for two years, so I have some ideas for layouts.

FYI on Devens...

Devens books almost a year ahead. We book our seven dates (SVTOA) in the October time frame.

Devens also has the highest minimum insurance requirement of any autox facility in the northeast if not the entire country. That is definitely something to watch out for. Devens is beginning to make it more and more difficult to run there..

I had to make SVTOA national adopt a higher national policy for us to get to the mins at Devens.. Unfortunately, the chapter has to cover the dominant amount of National's cost for that insurance..

Put it this way... I looked into it, and it is actually cheaper for me (by about 300 bucks) to buy the insurance for an NHIS track day than it is for a measily 10 run autox at Devens..

fun fun...

You can try Rockingham Mall in Salem NH or Rockingham Park (horse race track) right across the street. I think the BMW club ran events there in the past but don't know if they still do.

Although it might still be available, no one has used the Rockingham lot for at least 5 years.
