Pickin up my new engine today

Post by jadams » Sat May 12, 2007 12:54 pm

I am leaving in about 10 minutes to go pick up my new (and last) engine down in New Jersey. I have a feeling that the third time is a charm, this is going to be it finally (hopefully). If all goes well, I should have it back and running in time for the before the July event. Well I am outta here..

Just got back, what a long drive! But anyway, I now have a new LT1 383 stroker all forged internal shortblock to rebuild up my engine again. It has a rediculous cam in it right now. I am pretty sure that I cannot use the cam, because it is a bit much. It is a 242-248 108 LSA with .65 lift! Well let the work begin! (again)

If I were you, I'd double-check everything about the oiling system -making sure the oil pump tolerances are within spec. Then I'd invest in many quarts of Redline 50 wt.

Good luck.

The engine problem that I had was not oil system related. It was detonation as a result of running the engine too lean. It was a bad programming decision on my part, and believe me I have learned my lesson. When I get this one running, it is going to be spraying raw fuel out the exhaust and shooting flames on decel!
