Passport required-Canadian events?
I'm going to Calabogie to crew for Gary Cheney and his Ex-Champ car. Will I need a passport to return to the US? Used to be Photo ID and birth certificate.

Re: Passport required-Canadian events?
i think as of a few months ago you need a passort to enter Canada. Am not sure about returning, though having a passoport in general when going from country to country is a good thing. The good news is that you don't need an International drivers license, but those are easy to get at your local AAA and cost around $30.grovefromnh wrote:I'm going to Calabogie to crew for Gary Cheney and his Ex-Champ car. Right now a passport is only required to fly in and out of Canada. You can still cross by land with a photo ID and proof of citizenship.

The border crossing is far easier with a passport now. I know it's not required yet, but license and birth cert generally get you harassed. Last time I tried license and birth cert getting back into US, I was told point blank, "The system says you have a passport. Use it."
Of course, the Canadians were incredibly nice and let me through with just my license.
