Agreed. No chance, the fastest I think anyone driving an Evo has reported at LRP stock with race tires is a ~1:02.RyanC wrote:I dunno how much faster the track is in the summer, but a fully built T2 Evo on sticker hoosiers ran 1:00.7 with a great driver behind the wheel; I'd have a hard time thinking a stock Evo on the same tires would do better.tmak26b wrote:With the pavement the way it is, driving a Elise fast at LRP cant be fun. What production stock cars out there can hit the below 1 mark anyway, lets say on race rubbers. I am thinking maybe the EVO, Z06, 997 and maybe the Cayman S. WHat do you guys think?

Stephan's Alfa is NOT what i am referring to (with apologies to Stephan as needed of course). i mean the guys with $250k Ferrari cars.
Just being honest and judging from how certain guys at FCA events drive...
Think a few COMSCC and SCDA instructors can attest to this: My old and slow 308 passes FCA guys easily. Ya know, i am NOT that great a driver quite frankly, though time and again at FCA events i pass cars with TWICE the power as me... often. There is something VERY WRONG with that picture. In defence of FCA, they put me in the green/white run group where newbies and kinda newbies who can solo ride around lapping. The RED group are the pros/instructors and THOSE guys do great.
Anywho, i still root for the Z06 as it is perhaps the best value for $$$ out there right now IMO... if you need to keep a street legal car that is. Amazing what a mere $20k will buy for an open wheel track car... as i could not see myself in a Miata and the last thing we need is yet another Miata at the track
PS: the season is about to begin, so perhaps my 'trash talking' has begun a bit early this year versus last year

ahh.. I saw two EVOs running 59s in October, both cars seem somewhat streetable. I think one was actually on stock turbo, of course everything's been changed or hackd.RyanC wrote:I dunno how much faster the track is in the summer, but a fully built T2 Evo on sticker hoosiers ran 1:00.7 with a great driver behind the wheel; I'd have a hard time thinking a stock Evo on the same tires would do better.tmak26b wrote:With the pavement the way it is, driving a Elise fast at LRP cant be fun. I have a hard time thinking an EVO cant hit 1:01 stock at LRP with just race tires. Those cars have massive torque and great grip off the corner, it should be able to take it. Of course I havent seen any stock EVOs racing forever, they are all modified. I look at it this way. If I can hit 1:02 in my Z, someone has got to be able to hit 1:01 with an EVO or STI since they are faster cars.
1 Evo ran 1:00s and 2 STIs ran 1:01s, but none of the three were stock. I know my 1:01.7 run wasn't very clean, so I probably had, at best, another half second or so in the setup. But that's with race tires, race pads, springs, swaybars, and a bit more power than stock. As Mark points out though, Lime Rock isn't really a classic HP track, so an extra second is a large margin. The Glen, or even nhis for that matter, is another story.tmak26b wrote:ahh.. I saw two EVOs running 59s in October, both cars seem somewhat streetable. I'd love to see us run an event that wasn't run at freezing temps, though, to see the difference in times.
I raced a stock Evo all last season but I am sure several species of Turtles would lap me at LRP as I am slow as dirt.tmak26b wrote:

An Evo stock could probably hit 1:01, but it would be a pretty good driver piloting it. Last year there were two guys with Grey Evos running 59s, but they were pretty well built up. A T2 Evo isn't really all that modified, but I bet said T2 Evo will hit the 59s now that he has his suspension dialed in!

I WANT ONE!
Seriously though, after SCCAs "handy work" on the Elise in Touring 2 this year, there are at least one or two for sale since they are requiring a ballast. which cannot be safely mounted by any means. I think a full T2 spec Elise is going for 46k or so...

Actually the Elise doesn't ride that "bad", my S2000 rides about the same on the frost heaves. The Elise leans more in the corner than the Honda-- which was a surprise to meWith the pavement the way it is, driving a Elise fast at LRP cant be fun
This thread started with me asking about a roll bar for the Elise, which I have decided not to track and have a buyer for it I still have a S2000, an M-Roadster (315 h.p. one) and a Miata I don't use and would like to move out of the barn. But my post has evolved or is that an "Evolution" into track times at LRP. I have never done LRP in warm weather. I have only done the last 3 Com events there, but Jonathan Worf hs told me the track is much nicer in warm weather. The NEQClub.org (Audi) has an event there in June. I would like to try that . There are several Evos and STI that run with NEQ but they don't allow timing. They have "Stop Watch Police" just kidding. I know my Mustang won't do a 1:01 and I'm not going to worry about it

I know a guy in a Mustang can do 1:04 and 1:05 all day long, like a 00 GT with a little work to it.
Even a Buick at LRP will send you flying with those nasty bumps on the downhill.

Can do 1:06 no problem with the 2,900 lbs car 180HP/165TQ and Mich Pilot Sport PS2 rubber, though yes 2 seconds is a LIFETIME at LRP.Crusin wrote:As i recall, that day at LRP one Loti guy had major mods including turbo, another had a Loti factory race car or some such. Both cars were doing stunning laps, but when the rain came down the factory-type car was ok while the turbo guy dialed the turbo down and he said his car was still 'undrivable' due to wet conditions. Sorry, forget what rubber he had, though believe he had a few sets so am guessing even with grooved tires the turbo made the car a bit of a handful.Tsurara wrote:Company called Forcefed offers their 380R Turbo package. FYI: i LOVE LRP, even in the down pouring rain! This spring will be doing top end work on the Italian engine (~45 track days and a few over revs does that to an engine) and then add a blower and Hoosier R06 rubber Am very much looking forward to seeing the possibilities at LRP once that is done. Hope COMSCC gets LRP during a nice warm day in 2008, that would rock!!!
