BMW Race Car Needed ... can you help?

Post by UniqueAngle » Thu Feb 08, 2007 10:20 pm

Hi all -

One of my customers recently wrecked their toy  and is looking for a new toy  . Basically, they prefer a BMW 330/M3-E46/Z4 that is either currently race prepped or in progress - will consider a street car for easy conversion also. Preferably nothing older then 1999.

If you or someone you know has a car they would consider parting with, please contact me within the next few days  , as this team is trying to decide if they will rebuild the wrecked one, or if it would be more time/cost effective to start over.

Please get back to me and I will put you directly in contact with the team owner. :D

Thanks so much!
Sincerely,
Brenda Godfrey

There are 2 up to date sources on-line for BMW race cars.

bimmerforums.com
bmwclubracing.com

Both have some cars currently available in various stages of prep.

Thanks for the tips, but I was unable to locate the cars. Any chance you can send me the link to the specific cars?
Thanks!

I am too technically incompetent to cut and paste the links but I can describe them.
On Bimmerforums go to the forums page and scroll down to the section for race and specialty parts. They include cars in that area.
On BMW Club Racing home page there is a section listed classifieds on the left. They have cars for sale there.
Any specific type or price range? There are a couple of great cars for sale, depends on the price range you're looking for.

Thanks guys - I was able to find two listings on bwmccaclubracing, but nothing new enough on the bimmerforums. Thanks so much for the help! (we all know I'm not a BMW gal ...)

Bimmerworld is selling their last seasons World Challange E46s. James the owner just posted about them being for sale last week.

Excellent prep, second to none in Speed WC touring.

If you are looking for newer race prepped BMWs there are two places to look.

Bimmerworld (ask for James Clay)

Turner Motorsport (ask for Will Turner)

Brenda,
Go back into the Bimmerforum achives a little on the race parts section. So many parts get posted every day that cars are not often bumped up to the front page, but I know of at least 3 decent starter cars are still available.
The Bimmerworld cars are available, but if you're going to that level of dollar and not running in the Speed World Challenge, some other cars out there are more competetive in Club Racing.

Well, as I'm sure you can guess, the car isn't for me - but rather a customer of mine. They wrecked their's at Daytona recently - they're actually running Grand Am series, so they really are looking for something pretty complete to try to figure out what their actual options are right now.

BMW race car

Hi Brenda. I hope your customer wasn't running the green and white BMW @ Daytona. That car was the slowest car on the track. The various drivers caused many others to crash or go offcourse due to their poor driving and lack of mirror use. If these aren't the guys contact Turner Motorsports in Amsbury, Mass. Excellant builders of BMW racecars. Regards, Grove

Nope - wrong car (this guy has a grey one). What ever it hit was hard enough to crunch the front end & push the engine into the firewall (bending the firewall, if I recall correctly).

Thanks - that got passed on as well .... though I'm told they may not qualify for Grand Am. Once I know on what the team opts to do, I'll post the update here.

Thanks so much everyone - Looks like the team picked out a pair of cars to run in Grand Am Rolex Series.
