Putting financials aside for the moment, if the spacing of events would permit it, it seems reasonable to assess whether it makes sense to run 9 events in '07.
However, as I type this it has dawned upon me that it takes many people much time to coordinate an event. A reasonable limitation to the inclusion of a 9th event may very well be too much strain on the fantastic people who volunteer their valuable time to this club year-round.

It's just my personal grade. I find the other tracks much more flowing. NHIS is a lot of slam bang braking, slow corners, slam bang acceleration, back to slam bang braking for another slow corner. The only speedy "corner" is 7-8.
Contrast this with Mosport where there's really only one hard braking corner. Tremblant has all those lovely stri... er.. corners - 1,2,3,4 combination is the bomb. Even LRP, as bumpy as it is, has more challenging corners.
Again, it's just my take on it. The facilities at NHIS cannot be beat, though.

I haven't been to Calabogie (yet) so I can't make a comparison between it and LRP. The map certainly looks more interesting, but on the other hand LRP has both the Uphill and the Downhill, which for me are are two amazing thrill rides. The nice thing about LRP being short is that those two turns come up often.
I'm imagining that Nirvana must have a track consisting of T1-4 from Tremblant, T2 from Mosport, and the Uphill and Downhill from LPR all strung together.

I know its not in the cards for '07 but VIR is well worth the cost of going there. They have fantastic facilities, one of the best (arguably THE best) track in the east. The full course is very turny and flowing and FAST!!!
I have some vid from this year that I'll try to post, but I'd make the haul down there again for sure!
btw- its not that much farther than summit, relatively.

Looking forward to the new schedule, I don't run NHIS because it's to far (I don't really like it either even though it was the first track I ran on) but I do like Limerock in November because it justifies the trip for me since I can include Thanksgiving in with my Family in Albany. (not that that is a deciding factor)
I will at least try and make Mosport and maybe one or two others.

Depending on how the schedule shapes out, if there are any significant gaps in time like previous years, maybe a group of us could co-ordinate a VIR trip in conjunction with another club. Could be fun.
Depending on the exact schedule, I'm planning on all the away events. Four NHIS events are probably two more than I'm interested in doing.
Thanks for all the work that goes into securing these dates for us.

VIR would be awesome, as would Mid-Ohio. Both are within striking distance!
Very doubtful that either are in the cards for COM next year, but I agree, no reason a group of us could coordinate heading out to an event with another club. For reconnaissance, of course.

Just want to comment re my opinion of Calabogie...
I agree with everything that Raj and Paddy have already said in the Calabogie thread.
The track is an absolute blast, quite a challenge to learn and a lot more work than say Mosport or MT, but fun of a very different nature...without quite the same fast rhythmic flow that those have however. Or, maybe I've got a better handle on those?
While the straights are fast, the corners are tighter and quite complex, with some wild, unweighted transitions, including at shift points! This makes the car move around a lot, and the driver work a lot harder.
This place is hard on brakes and tires and the asphalt has lots of grip (even in the cold temps I was there). There will be gobs of time gained or lost, depending on technique and skill (or lack of).
In my opinion the only issue with the place is that there seems to have been little consideration given to adequate run-offs. Looks to me, like they could have done a lot better in this regard, especially for a brand new, club type facility.
Oh yeah, the paddock was beautifully paved, but facilities were still in the planning stages and refueling was only permitted in a special off-asphalt area. A bit inconvenient...
Finally,they were pretty serious about enforcing the strict DB restrictions, first checking all cars in the paddock in the morning and then monitoring all day long from different spots around the track.
I think it would be a shame if COM wasn't able to squeeze Calabogie into the schedule and I suspect that weekend dates may be feasible, seeing that it is after-all a 'club' track.

April 9&10 (Mon/Tue) at NHIS. This date is tentative.
April 23&24 (Mon/Tue) at Watkins Glen. This date is relatively firm.
The only other firm date we have is May 28&29 (Mon/Tue) at Calabogie.
Note that Monday the 28th is Memorial Day.

I was at VIR in November and Lime Rock in September. Let's just say both are complete different experience. VIR before the the bridge is a lot like Lime Rock minus the elevation changes. After the bridge, you basically turn the jets on and start to do crazy things (like esses at 100mph, 135mph down the straight, 45mph Oaktree, braking from 135 to 50 and multiple off camber ready to fly off the track corner).
Lime Rock on the other hand, you basically hold on and hope you don't hit the wall. The track is getting so bumpy that it is scary to go down the hill. When I went to race rubber from street rubber, my car got so bumpy that I almost lost down the hill at the apex. You have to really hold it to get good laps at that track.
For fun, I think Lime Rock is a 5 and VIR is a 9 with Pocono North being a 7.5 . As far as challenging goes, LRP is like a 9.5 and VIR is like a 8 and Pocono is like a 3.
